I'm going to be completely up front and admit that

sailorptah is one of my favourite people in this fandom. She is both a writer and an artist, and her meta is epic. However,

sailorptah almost never dabbles in RPF. Her passion is "Stephen", the fictional persona Stephen Colbert portrays on The Colbert Report. Because of this, most of her fic is based in the show's fictional universe and doesn't technically qualify as RPF. That is why I am so happy to have The Thing With Feathers to rec this month.

In The Thing With Feathers Stephen Colbert wakes up and finds himself in a world where his character is a real flesh-and-blood person, with a whole bunch of problems. Meanwhile, "Stephen" is in the real world and things start to go badly immediately. Hence starts 17 chapters of awesomness. Enjoy! (Also, surprise ending is surprising - seriously.)
