Why this must be read:
I could, quite literally, spend an entire month just recommending some of the amazing fan-generated artwork surrounding the Sherlock fandom. No lie. This is one of the most creative/crafty/artsy fandoms I've ever been in and it has exposed me to types of art I've never even heard of elsewhere. Unfortunately, this community is for primarily fanfic recs. Fortunately, this gem I'm about to recommend has words AND pictures, so I can squeeze it in! :D

Sherlock's long, gorgeous coat is practically a character in its own right in the Sherlock fandom. A coat lookalike is a must-have for many fans. There are fanfics written about Sherlock's special relationship to the coat, ranging from G-rated comfort fics to NC-17 fetish fics, and everything in between. There are innumerable lovely bits of fanart -- ranging from paintings to comics to vector art to shadowboxes and just EVERYTHING -- featuring the coat. THIS story is one of my favorites. Told from the point of view of the lovely coat in question, this is a children's book-style story about a coat and it's owner. Magical and fuzzy. It makes me smile every time I read it.
