Why this must be read:
I love this author's work. This story is about all of the little bits of life -- the good and the bad -- that lead Sherlock and John to be the men that they are. Parts of this story are flashbacks to their lives as children and it is brilliantly done, everything leading up to the culmination. I particularly love the care that Mycroft shows towards his brother in this story. All around excellent story here, like a lovely mosaic made of beautiful gems that sparkle distractingly and then you pull back and see the entire picture and it is even more beautiful.
