Why this must be read: Written for a prompt on the Sherlock fic meme where John is Sherlock and Mycroft’s nanny. It’s also somehow warped into a massive retelling of Hound of the Baskervilles. I love this verse so much. I know the premise sounds cracky but the storytelling is amazing.  I am not really a John/Lestrade shipper but John and Lestrade are very cute here.  

The real heart of this story is the relationship that develops between John and 5 year old Sherlock and 12 year old Mycroft.  Even if you don't like kidfic give this story a chance.  The kids in question are Sherlock and Mycroft after all and they are both perfectly themselves, just as kids. The 1st sequel is a day in the life of this odd, adorable little family just before Christmas. The other fic sequels are mostly John/Lestrade interludes.

The most unique parts of this epic verse are the two blog run by “John” Nothing Happens to Me and “Lestrade”Interesting murders not boring stuff. These blogs are fabulous and much better written than the blogs put out by the BBC.  They are interactive fan fic chronicling the lives of John, Lestrade, and the boys. They are so much fun to read.  The conversations in the comments are usually a blast.   I really can not recommend this verse highly enough.

Hi, thanks for the rec; you're very kind! :) Could you add elfbert's name to this, please? She does Lestrade's blog and she's written about half the stories. It definitely wouldn't still be going if not for her; I don't have that kind of staying power on my own.

I almost recced this last month. Good choice. Though I wish the sequels would have more on the kids and their relationship with John instead of concentrating on John/Lestrade. Maybe in future sequels, please.

Thanks, you've been so supportive. Sorry I have not been replying to comments but real life has been insane lately. I am so behind on my fic reading so a lot of these recs are going to be classics. Sherlock fan fic does make every thing better though :)
