Why this must be seen:

I am ever in awe of artists who can create visual magic with nothing more than paper and pencil, and magic_moni certainly fits in that category. Well, I suppose I should be accurate: she uses charcoal and pastels, too ;) "Saving Hand," done in charcoal and chalk on brown paper, is a gorgeous rendering of a moment from "Shootout," where a fiercely protective Hutch watches over an injured Starsky. Intense and emotionally charged, it showcases Moni's ability to capture, not just the likenesses, but also the personalities of these men—she draws Starsky and Hutch as we see them with our eyes and in our hearts.

Moni also occasionally posts 'unfinished stages' of her drawings, giving us some insight into her creative process. The one for "Saving Hand" doesn't have any commentary, but it's still very interesting to see the progression of an artWIP. But don't take my word for it—go take a look-see for yourself :)

That is absolutely beautiful! I am in *love* with Starsky's eyes. You can see the lashes, the pain, the fatigued confusion. Sigh. So lovely! What I really like about her scene choice is how contrasted the two expressions are, Hutch so worried and angry and panicky, while Starsky just lays on Hutch's lap, sleepy, but uncertain. This is what art is to me, intense emotion that comes off the paper, through every stroke of the pencil/charcoal/whatever medium, and lets the viewer "feel" something powerful.
