Why this must be read: Because no matter how bad things are, they can always get worse.
The Emu starts off with a horrifying premise - what if someone had survived the crash in Timeless? - and produces a harrowing story full of death and hardship and pain; and the coming together these things bring to disparate people. A beautiful, haunting piece of work.
