Fandom: Angel: the Series. Direct Link: Five Ways to Have a Happy Ending, and Not One of Them TruePairing: Wesley/Lilah Author on LJ: minim_calibreAuthor Website: RecalibrationWhy this must be read: Because it'll break your heart into tiny little pieces and make you like it. The Wesley/Lilah 'ship, like pretty much every relationship on the series, ended in tragedy. The pairing is widely popular in the fandom because it was handled with subtlety, grace and maturity on the show. Minim somehow manages to convey the pair's complicated relationship, make the reader pull for them to escape together, and make us realize why this can never happen. And all this in 4k. If you're a soppy 'shipper type like me, have a tissue or two handy.

Previously on Popslash: "Chris blinks. 'J, man, I'm not telling Joey that. You sick fuck. I like his mom.'"Today on Popslash: The Hiatus (PG 13) Fandom: Popslash Pairing: None. Well, one. But it's a surprise. Author on LJ: bitterchickAuthor Website: Diva HipsWhy this must be read: The Hiatus answers the daunting question fans everywhere have been torturing themselves with during the year and a half since *Nsync's last group tour. Namely, what do *Nsync do when they're not being *Nsync? According to bitterchick, at least, the answer is: bitch, moan, have a ton of ill-advised sex, write thinly-veiled songs of hate, make embarrassing public appearances, and generally be endearingly petty. And what's not to love in that, eh? A devilishly energetic, funny little story that captures all the ridiculousness and extremes of what we've seen of the guys in the press lately. The source of some of my favorite popslash fic lines. ( Additional Information )Friday on Popslash: "A predictable script, but some heartfelt performances from a cast of unknowns."

Party by Te (NC-17) Fandom: OZ Pairing: Adebisi/O'Reily Category: slash Why this fic must be read: Ryan O'Reily isn't the easiest guy in the world to slash (even though he's a big ol' flirt.) But O'Reily's interaction with Simon Adebisi in the first couple of seasons is a boatload of wicked fun, and in "Party", Te has nudged the spirit of their relationship just that wee bit further in the way we slash fans love so much...

One last parody rec for October: A Walking Tour of Middle-Earth and A Riding Tour of Rohan by Darth Maligna (PG) Fandom: Lord of the Rings Pairing: lots of slash mentions, including Sam/Frodo, Aragorn/Legolas. nothing even remotely explicit occurs - this is pure silliness. author on LJ: darthmalignaauthor's webpage: her fic hub at ff.net Why this must be read: This is pure silliness. A snickeringly good parody of the LotR films, full of audience/author arguments, completely random events, and vague references to half a dozen other fandoms. But they were all of them deceived, for because they were easily distracted by shiny objects, they failed to notice that the dark lord Sauron (who isn’t THAT much like Voldemort) was busy forging one ring that could rule them all and also had a nifty poem to go with it.
SAURON: Actually, all I’ve been able to come up with so far is: Once the Dark Lord made a ring That was really quite a nifty thing It was shiny and gold With powers untold So someday I’m gonna be king
Yes… well… you keep working on that. Anyway, eventually Sauron did write a decent poem and finished the Ring and used it to crush the cities and towns of Middle-earth one by one.

Cantiques de Noël by BT Fandom: From Eroica With Love Pairing: Dorian/Klaus Author Website: http://strangeplaces.net/sylvia/BT.htmWhy this must be read: BT is an author whose Eroica fics date back to that mythical age - pre-Internet. But thanks to Sylvia, her Eroica fic is now hosted online, and thank goodness. It's hard to pick just one, but this particular fic starts with an contemplative Klaus, a strange Christmas, and a broken engagement. It's dreamy and thoughtful, and perfectly accompanied by a pot of tea. If you like this one, there's a lot more where it came from. "I can change my views. I used to think you were a posturing idiot. Now I think you’re a posturing thief."
"That," said Dorian calmly, "is progress."

The Three Kisses by Beth Minster Fandom: From Eroica With Love Pairing: Dorian/Klaus Author's website: fics are hosted at http://www.belladonna.org/eroica.htmlWhy this must be read: Because it's whimsical and funny, and proves that acting your age can be overrated. It's a sweet romance, and the perfect bedtime story. "You were playing in my tank." The Major uttered the words with the finality of a death sentence.
To his amazement, the thief blushed a deep, rather attractive rose pink. "Well," he answered defiantly, "what is wrong with that?"

Fandom: Farscape Pairing: none Author on LJ: themoonbarWhy this must be read: It's a fantastic little morsel of a story, all about John and how strange it is to come home to Earth and find that everything's the same - and that he doesn't fit in anymore. It's about the reasons that sometimes it doesn't matter if you fit in or not. Ultimately, it's about why John chose to leave Earth again, after he'd spent so long searching for it. And it's not because he had a mission to fulfill, either. The Farthest Way About by Anna S.
