My last recommention. I could have post so many recs because there are still a huge load of wonderful fics on Ao3, fanfiction.net and on Livejournal but my RL didn't really want to accept that I need internet time this month. Nevertheless I hope you had fun with my recs even if there were some posting breaks or posting spams. Also I really hope you found some fics which let persuaded you to try out this fandom. Angst, then some confusion, new angst and then ... eh what? Yes, that will be reaction but the end will make everything better. Also the epilogue is really cute. ^_^

Years over years and they struggle with their feeling. Alex is the one who wants to try it but should they really do it? Justin isn't sure. What is with their family? What is if it is only a crush? Could they maybe be happy with other people? It's one of the classic angst fics and I must admit... in some scenes I want to scream because of my frustation. I only want to see Justin and Alex happy and together but this wouldn't be realistic. The end is another reason for my frustration. It fits to the tone of the story but oh how I hate the author after my first time to read the fic. I need to read the fic a second, a third and finally a fourth time to think 'okay, yes, this is the only way to end the fic... even if I don't like it.' My first (video)rec for today is for the main pairing of the fandom. The quality of the scenes is good and mostly similar to DVD quality. The video shows us some of the most beautiful scenes between these two and combines this with a beautiful song. Okay the choice of interpret is clichee but it is a Disney-fandom so it's really no surprise that there are lots of videos with Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers and co.

You could call it a crossover but it's more a fic where Alex and Justin use a spell and meet so the characters of a well-known christmas movie. I'm a huge fan of this movie and watch it again every year so you can't imagine how happy I was to find this fic. Especially because I sometimes have the same wish/problem like Justin... But no, I don't want to spoil the fic. But even if you don't know the movie (which you should really change! try to watch it in the next days!) the fic gives you a slightly warm fluffy feeling of christmas and you will have no problem to follow the storyline. save_vs_magic describes beautiful the scenery with the snow, the coldness and Alex who wants to wear the new winter collection and Justin who trys to fit in. The dialogue between Justin and Alex and later between them and the villain of the movie are perfect. Funny and IC and nevertheless charming. This is really a cute fic who shows perfect the sense of christmas... or that what Alex understands by this. I must admit I was unsure if I should rec this fic or not. I love how the author describes Zekes thoughts and feelings in so few words. Alex is a little bit ooc but then I thought... okay this is the nice Alex of S4 and then it fits better. At the end I chose to rec this fic because I love the pairing and this is the only good fic with it. Really, every other fic with them is either extremely ooc or horrible written. So I was very happy to find the fic and even if it's not super amazing or perfect I want to rec the fanfiction because it saved my faith that these two can fit together.

The POV of Toby, the newcomer, is great. Through his eyes as an outsider he gives us an amazing look into Justin's and Alex's sibling-relationship which is a mix of love and rivalry. They drive each other crazy but nobody else is allowed to do this. Toby needs to learn this and how Alex teaches him this lesson is simple but more than fitting for her. The fic shows us the evil mastermind called Alex which we all love perfectly. :)

Why? Simple. I know nothing about Terminator. I saw never one of these movies and I also don't know the fic but still I read the fic and wow... thank god I did this. Even if you don't know a thing about Terminator you can understand everything so that you can enjoy this amazing fic! It's one of the BigBangs for apocabigbang so be warned. The fic has major character death, mentions of violence including sexual assault and some curse words. Nevertheless it is under my Top 5 of the best WoWP fics. It has drama, angst, a little bit UST, amazing characters who learned the hard way to grow up and an amazing writing style. The development of the Justin/Alex relationship suited the tempo of the story and there is even an solution for the incest problem at the end of the fic. I must admit even if the epilogue is a little bit confusing it's one of the best apocalypse fics I ever read. (Also I adore the fanmix and the cover for the fic...). Btw, there will be more apocalypse fic recs this month. I don't know why but this is one of the favorite genres in this fandom... I have a weakness for this fic because of the POV. I love Harper and the author gives her a more realistic twist. Yes, she is nice. Yes, she is cute but she is also a teenager girl with a crush. She is unsure but she knows what she wants and forgets the consequences during her fight for it. She only does want she thinks she needs to do.
The author chose an interesting way to demonstrate Harper's feeling. Normally I have problems with the second-person narrative but here it fits. Even if I think the end solution is too easy the fic deserves a rec because of the not so common writing style. :)

There are various reasons why I love the fic but the main reason is amathela's Alex. She is cheeky, self-centered but still unsure of herself and her relationship with her brother. The interactions between Alex and Justin's friends are short but still have a major impact on her because they help to push her thoughts and insights into the direction which everyone saw... except herself. So... if you love slight cases of denial or relationships where everyone knows the truth except the pair then you should read this fic. Personally I think he is... okay but I don't like his relationship with Alex. Why? It often looks too manipulative to be real and Alex changed too much of herself because of him. This fic uses this idea of Mason and the Mason/Alex relationship to show us a darker side. The author thematized the abuse carefully and didn't forget to mention the consequences. Alex is shown as a victim but also as a survivor. She isn't weak but like lots of other people in such relationships she needs time to realize that she isn't to blame. Flashbacks show us moments which showcase how slowly you can slide into such a relationship and how easy it's to blame yourself. It's heartbreaking to read how Alex loses herself and everything which made her Alex Russo. Justin is the one who is there to help her. Maybe his characterization seems to some people ooc but personally I always thought he would do anything to help/save his family/sister so I think his role in the story fits perfectly. For me it's one of the best dark!fics in this fandom. It has also a prequel called " Hunted" which gives us the Mason's POV and explains how Alex and Mason got together. It will also give you chills because it describes how easily someone can manipulate other people. Prey (LJ) --> She never thought she'd be the girl who put up with this type of thing. But somewhere along the way she lost herself in him, and forgot who she used to be. Justin didn't. (violence, language and implied non-consensual sex -> abusive relationship and victim-blaming) | | |

Personally I'm not a huge femslasher. There is only one f/f pairing which could me persuade in the last six years in various fandoms but nevertheless... I'm strangely intrigued with this pairing and their canon friendship/relationship.
The fic doesn't follow the Stevie arc which is no surprise but it still starts with a friendship between Alex and Stevie. Through Stevie's eyes the readers can see how she views Alex and how their relationship develop. Normal and not so normal moments give Steviehope but she still struggles with her feelings. Unsure if and how she can seduce Alex.
The author shows us a Stevie who is a bad girl and a wizard but it's basically still a teenager who is unsure how to persuade her crush. Her way to admit her love is realistic and maybe this is the reason that I like the fic so much. I understand Stevie. Her feelings, her fear and her love for Alex and as I read the fic I wished her nothing more than a happy end. :)

There are moments when you need something different... where you need smut. But there are also times where you want both. Smut AND plot and this fic connects these two things in a wonderful way. The author has a beautiful writing style. Her Alex is snarky but still charming. Sometimes a little beast but you love her nevertheless. The same for Justin. There are moments when he is smartass and only few sentences later he is the funny and cute Geek which you only want to sex up hug. The same thought has also Alex in this fic after she finds out Justin wants to be a doctor instead of a scientiest. Convinced that this is a joke or something similar she wants to test his abilities as a doctor. Which follows is something I really don't want to experience with my real doctor but between Alex and Justin (or me and David Henrie/Justin)? Hell yes! I don't like doctor-patient-roleplays but this? This is freaking hot and Justins/Alexs snarky comments are the icing of the cake. One of my favorite PWP-with-Plot of this fandom. :) Doc Day Afternoon (LJ), FF.net --> Seemingly out of the blue, Justin announces that he wants to go to med school after college. Alex thinks he’d make a terrible doctor. Justin naturally disagrees, Alex challenges him to prove it, and sexy hi-jinks ensue. Their feelings are everything but not normal? Could you accept them? Could you be still the same one? Cheerful with no worries? Max can't do this. Through his eyes we see the slowly destruction of the Russo family. One vacation, one night, a feeling which should be a reason to be joyful, destroy this family and Max can only watch. It's heartbreaking to see how he falls apart. Nobody helps him... Nobody? No, there is Harper who also lost her path and wants to be his friend. Even if the fic is sad and melancholic there is still a shimmer of hope. Maybe it's impossible and unrealistic for everyone to have a happy end but maybe Max and Harper are two of these happy ones. The author shows us this through simple words and moments but these things make the fic perfect. It fits perfect to show the mix of sadness and hope. So it's maybe no surprise that this is for me the best non-Jalex fic in this fandom and one of my personal favorites (and the reason that I ship Max/Harper....). Why this must be read:
Twelve years. Such a long time but sometimes you only need few moments to see how much a life could change. One moment and everything is different. One look, one touch and you realize you can't be alone anymore.
This happen to Alex and Justin and the reader can see how their lives change. The fic starts twelve years in the future and shows then earlier moments. The time gapes between them grow till the fics end with the present time and you realize that this future is inevitable. It's the normal, the right path for these two people.
I simple love the style of the fic. The idea to start with the end and end with the start isn't new but as I read tabacoychanel's fic I still was amazed. Somehow the author give this timeline presentation a new twist. Together with her wonderful characterization of Justin and Alex this is the reason the fic is under my top ten of WoWP-fics. Also the fic gets bonus points for an amazing Max even if there are only few scenes with him. ;-)
So I can only say... read the fic and see how Justins and Alexs evolved.

Why? Especially in the earlier episodes there are lots of moments which show a more serious Max but still... maybe it's the easiest way to write him. This is the reason that I was downright stunned as I found this fic. digitalized_ shows us Max as a normal kid who loves his family and his special ability. Magic is the only thing who makes him different and helps him to find his own self. But is he still the same Max without magic? Who is Max Russo? Is he only Justins and Alexs Russos younger brother? The crazy kid of the sandwich shop? Or is he more? The author shows us a kid who search for his place in the world and who wants to find out what he wants to do as an adult and who he is as an adult. It's a struggle which is familiar for everyone and maybe this is the reason why the fanfiction is so heartbreaking and touching. This Max is a person like you and I, a kid who grows up and struggles against his feelings and the world around him till he finds the special place for himself. This is a Max which I could love like I love Justin and Alex. I really wish the TPTB would had given us such scenes with Max but thankfully there are fics like this to solve this problem. Fandom: WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE Pairing: Justin/Alex Length: 575 words Author on LJ: summertime_liesAuthor Website: none Why this must be read:Lots of fics in this fandom are very short and only few are able to convey so much feelings in so few words. This one-shot is special for me because it uses the catholic upbringing of Justin and Alex. Together with their feelings the fic shows us their fall into (their) sin. At first, I must admit, the writing style is a little bit confusing but after I understood it... It's simply fitting. The author uses an unique mixture of texts which is maybe the most interesting thing of the fic and the reason that I chose to rec this fic! No joke, there is no pairing except past Juliet/Justin. It is really unusual for me to read gen fics but this one is... special because it is one of the few fanfictions which really could happen like that in the show. The fic is short but still long enough to give the reader a (perfect) look into Justins and the relationship with his mother and vice versa. Especially Theresa is perfect and I adore the last few paragraphs about Juliet. The author shows within three sentences the love and understanding between Justin and Theresa, the importance of Juliet for Justin and this alone is worth a rec. More Woe (LJ) or FF.net--> Theresa bonds with Justin when he comes home after curfew. | | |
