Title: Scenes from a Cultural Exchange, or The Muppets Take New Burbage by LovelyPoet
Pairing: none
Length: 2300 words

Why this must be read:  You have to ask? Slings & Arrows + The Muppets = one of the most funniest, stories I read in 2011. I knew this would be a crack_van rec as soon I finished reading it.

LovelyPoet's Yuletide fic is a series of vignettes about an unusual acting troupe's visit to New Burbage. She matches the Muppets with their Slings & Arrows counterparts so well (Miss Piggy and Ellen!), and the result is a comic gem that meshes perfectly within the wackier elements of S&A. It's sheer crack, yet it feels like it could be canon-compliant. I would happily read more about the Muppet's New Burbage season.

A preview... )

Why this vid kicks ass: Muppets! At sea! As pirates! That's pretty much all the sales pitch I needed when I first downloaded this. But then I listened to the song, and watched the lip synching on the chorus (I suspect rather boggle-eyed), and almost did myself permanent damage from laughing so hard. In short, this songvid contains the best use of gratuitous muppet innuendo evah!

Poor Kermit, he is so hard done by. Heeeee. *cracks up at own peurile pun*

When I first started putting this rec set together I had to make a hard decision: namely, would I include anthropomorfic stories from established fandoms (such as this one I recced on the van while driving for BSG03)? In the end I decided that as December was Small Fandom month, I could only rec stories with small-fandom protagonists. Which works out well, actually, as it means I can rec this delightful story about a muppet with a big destiny...

Why this must be read: Okay, so Pepe the Prawn? It turns out he's a kick-ass viper pilot. No seriously! Read on, and discover how he fearlessly does his bit to help the BSG crew battle the Cylons.

*wipes away tears of mirth*
