Why this must be read:
Heaven is the Matrix.

I tend to find it amazing when writers can pack so much world building into such a short amount of words. And this certainly managed that. It’s such a great mash up of not only 2 different properties, but uses the different Supernatural words to great effect. Chitaqua and a certain high rise office work fantastically as Matrix setting parallels. Castiel is a rogue program inhabiting a (living) avatar, working with humans (and possibly other rogue programs) against the machine that is heaven. They are in search for The One.

Title: Reset and Restore by Legion
Fandom: THE SENTINEL/THE MATRIX
Pairing: Jim Ellison/Blair Sandburg
Length: ~69,000 words
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: http://www.squidge.org/~theforest/legion/legion.html
Why this must be read:

Blair drives into work at Rainier one morning and when he arrives he discovers the year is 1956. When he rushes back to the loft, Jim doesn't remember him or their life together at first. The two of them struggle to make sense of what's happening to their world. It is their partnership -- Jim's sentinel senses and Blair's shaman skills -- that reveals the truth.

The first story is more a fusion with Matrix and the second a crossover as Neo and Morpheus seek them out to find out what Jim and Blair know -- things that Zion does not want known.

Title: Operator, by Salieri
Pairing: Jack/Daniel est.
Length: 26,000
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] troyswann
Author Website: Outside the Box
Why this must be read:

I promise I have several recs by authors other than Salieri this month, but I had to get this one in for crossover day. RL has let up, so you'll be seeing more frequent posts between now and the end of the month.

Now, on to Operator. *rubs hands together with glee* This story will make you feel like you took that red pill all over again. The way Sal integrates the two universes together is just amazing. Then she gives us a glorious Sam, brilliant and beautiful and stubborn; a Teal'c who isn't Teal'c, and yet, most certainly is; and a Jack and Daniel who are snarky and determined and together.

The characters from The Matrix exist mainly as cameos, as the focus is mainly on the SG-1 team, but there are many wonderful nods to the movies.

Yes, yes, yes! We are there yet!

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit boggled. When I set out with the crazy idea of reccing a vid every single day this month, I wasn't entirely sure we'd make it this far. But here we are. The very last rec of this monster set!

The really scary thing is that I could have kept right on reccing for a while yet before running out of good small fandom or multi-fandom songvids. There are just so many awesome vidders out there, and I hope this set has given you some inkling of the amazing quality and range of their work.

Anyway, enough from me. I hope you've all enjoyed the trip as much as I have. Happy new year!

Why this vid kicks ass: Was there any other songvid I could have ended the set with? I think not. This is the ultimate vid about vidding. It's sharply edited, it's funny, it has all our favourite characters doin' their thang... but most of all, it's a celebration of the grassroots, newfangled awesomeness of songvids.

*licks vid*

Tasty too! ;)

Why this vid kicks ass: When it was released, this songvid ate fandom. It's easy to see why: it's an anthem to fangirls and the way they love and invest in stories and pictures and characters -- all the things I've tried to encapsulate in this rec set. Saying anything else about "Us" would be hype for the sake of it; this vid speaks for itself.

Title: On the Outside by Killa
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] killabeez
Author Website: Killa's Adventures in Melodrama
Why this must be read: Highlander and The Matrix have some key elements in common. Most obviously, there is the focus on The One. The issues of trust, faith, betrayal and survival also figure prominently. Killa deftly put together Duncan MacLeod and Trinity in a tiny story about trust, faith, betrayal, survival and The One, and also hacking.

Title: Reality Games by AstroGirl
Pairing: None
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] astrogirl2
Author Website: Maximum Verbosity (fic archived at Leviathan)

Why this must be read: Because it's one hundred words of complete and utter silliness. The concept is bizarre, but it just fits so perfectly. Plus, I just can't say no to any incarnation of Stark, especially when he's at his demented finest.

A giggle-worthy little piece, short and perfect. Poor Neo has my deepest sympathies.

(A word of warning: this fic will make little-to-no sense to people who a) haven't seen the fourth-season ep 'John Quixote', and b) don't have much knowledge of Farscape actors' other roles.)

Title: Shades of Blue by Cherry Ice
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cherryice
Author Website: Cherry Bombs
Why this must be read:

I'm not that in to crossover fic, in any of the fandoms I read. Not usually my cup of tea. I can't remember why I decided to try it out, but I'm very glad I did. It's short but it melds the two mythologies beautifully; Cherry makes this crossover work.
