Why this must be read: This is one of my favorite fics ever because not only do we get to see how Mike and Ray's relationship works between them but we also get to see it work with others. For example I *love* how Ray and Sadie get along and that it is mentioned that it would be harder for Mike and Ray if Ray didn't get along with his kids. In this fic there are so many little details from both shows that the author weaves together so wonderfully to make it plausible that they are actually one show.

Why this must be read:

Again I turn to helens78, but when a writer offers the whole package (excellent writing, great character development, erotica) what is one to do?  This is simply a fascinating pairing, but I especially love that, although Emily is playing a submissive role, she seems incredibly empowered in this gem of a story.

Why this must be read:

Not only is this a wonderfully clever crossover AU (especially viewed through the prism of the Canadian Six Degrees fandom), but it's also a SCORCHING kink!fic. As the story opens, RayK (in all his twitchy, highly-caffeinated glory) and Mike Sweeney (the scariest cop in the universe) are biding their time at the airport once their flight to Toronto gets delayed again and again. What might seem casual to the passerby soon grows very interesting. For RayK and Mike are a kinky couple and the reader will soon learn the backstory on how they got together, where is Fraser and how come Mike Sweeney is living in Chicago amongst other things.

For those who might not know, sionnain is a Grade-A writer. Everyone's voice is perfect and the story has a great mix of angst (including the heavy baggage from Durham County as well as RayK's own set of insecurities), the funny (RayK/Mike banter is made of WIN) and the HOTNESS (all the sexy times between RayK and Mike.)

This story (as well as the entire 'verse it spawned)? It's fantastic kink because she makes the kink aspects fit the pairing and not the other way around like it happens in terrible kink!fics. A big reason why the kink plain ol' works is because the things they do (or, more appropriately stated what Mike does to RayK) are quite organic to the two of them. In truth, I'm left breathless and dreamy/glossy-eyed every single time I read this story. Funny, seductive, tender (in its own special way) and quite original, this fic is a wonderful ride.

Why this must be read: I'm being totally selfish in telling you to read this fic. It's hot hot HOT HOT HOT, okay. I mean, seriously, so hot I almost melted into a puddle. So you don't have to worry, my selfishness comes with benefits for you! Durham County is my favorite show, for which I would love more fic, and Mike Sweeney/Ray Kowalski is the random crossover pairing of my HEART.

The other thing I love about this is that it's kink!fic, and I love well-done kink!fic. This is a great use of collars/breathplay, and includes that mental element that I love so much in kink. Even if you have no idea who Mike Sweeney is or what Durham County is (which, you should! It's awesome), I think you will appreciate the hotness of this. Enjoy!!
