Title: Open House
Pairing: Gen
Length: 2,165
Author on LJ: N/A
Author's Website: FFN
Why this must be read: This crossover is hilarious, plain and simple. Morticia and Gomez decide they want to send their kids to Hogwarts. Chaos ensues. There's also a great scene with the Sorting Hat, Pugsley and Wednesday. Completely crack concept, completely IC.

Fandom: SHERLOCK/ADDAMS FAMILY
Pairing: John Watson and Sherlock Holmes are friends, but John's not blind
Length: 11,100 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] etothepii
Author Website: fic tag on LJ works on AO3
Why this must be read:
Because Halloween is coming, and The Addams Family, in all its incarnations, is monstrous, creepy fun.
This is one in a series, following Sic Gorgiamus Allos Subjectatos Nunc and followed by Your Body Before Me, but those are not necessary for enjoyment of this, my favorite. John is an Addams. He's Different. His body heals, when he allows it; he can see other things; and he's awfully damn tough to kill. He's also trying to pass as normal. He lives with consulting detective Sherlock Holmes, who's not aware of John's hidden talents. In this story, cousin/niece Wednesday comes to visit, with her possibly supernatural pet tarantula, Horatio. It's brilliant. True to both sources, it's a bit gory (even Gorey), alternately dark and light, funny, and touching in its relationships. John's advice to Wednesday on the fragility of those normal and the parameters of their tolerance for the different is amusing and sad. The humor ranges from cartoonish to subtly witty, and the whole story is a marvel of craftsmanship.

Firstly, can I just say that this is weird. I mean seven shades of weird and yet utterly brilliant at the same time.

Fandom: THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E./The Addams Family (yes, you did just read that right)
Length: 5,707 words
Pairing: Napoleon Solo/Illya Kuryakin
Author on LJ: Not sure
Author Website: I found this one on the Wonderful World of Make Believe

Why this must be read:

Because it's just so off the wall. I mean, Crossovers are usually at least the same sort of genre, like Man from UNCLE and say, The Professionals (and yes, I probably could have picked one of those), but this one is just so.....out there! And it's even slash (albeit very light)!

The Addams' remain true throughout the fic despite the even weirder than usual circumstances, and Napoleon and Illya are suitably bemused by the whole thing (although I love how Illya just takes a load of it in his stride).
There is action and some sort of a semi-plausible plot (remember the hiccup gas people!), so I'm reccing this. It's hilarious and come on, who wouldn't want to see Illya squaring up against Lurch....read on and prepare for some utter craziness :-)

5th-Oct-2009 04:53 am Addams Family/Torchwood (PG-13)
Fandom: ADDAMS FAMILY (MOVIES)/TORCHWOOD
Pairing: Gen; mentions of canon pairings
Length: 5,475 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] basingstoke
Author Website: http://www.ravenswing.com/~bas/
Why this must be read:

This is a truly clever and well thought-out crossover which takes both fandoms and meshes them together beautifully. This isn't crack, even though it might have been. The humor here is a it dark and creepy. I loved the characterization, and the characters interactions, especially between the Torchwood team.

Fandom: ANGEL/THE ADDAMS FAMILY
Pairing: Harmony/Wednesday
Length: 1996 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ijemanja
Author Website: just her LJ
Why this must be read: I think that the best crossovers, like the best inventions, are those that you never thought of on your own, but once you hear of them, they seem so completely obvious that you can't believe they never occurred to you before. This is so very much that kind of crossover. Of course Wednesday Addams grows up to work at Wolfram and Hart. Naturally she remembers Harmony as Amanda, the prissy little girl she'd tormented at summer camp years before. Obviously they embark on a strange journey of dating and feeding chihuahuas to piranhas. How, you find yourself wondering, can this not be canon? [livejournal.com profile] ijemanja not only weaves this crossover very deftly, but she also throws in a wonderful sense of humor to make it even more of a good read. Add to that her spot-on characterizations and excellent Wednesday and Harmony voices, and this story is simply too much fun to miss.
