03:48 pm Protector's Lament by shi shi (R)
Title: Protector's Lament
Fandom: Enterprise
Pairing: Reed/Sato
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] shi_shi2525
Author's website: Coffeeslash.

Why this must be read: I adore this story for KickAss!Hoshi and Action!Malcolm, now with extra weaponry! shi shi really invented the fanon version of these characters, version that are now used by almost every author. Her Malcolm actually acts like a security officer, trying to protect his crewmates, and someone who can shoot and kick and kill, if necessary. Her Hoshi is frightened but brave, worried about Malcolm, trying to survive, and generally human. This story has won numerous awards. All of which it deserves.

You can find the rest of the Protector series on here. I especially recommend Protector's Holiday, which takes a break from the serious nature of the series for a light-hearted romp in the grand tradition of farce and physical comedy. While I love the whole series, Holiday is the one I wish I'd written :)

09:48 pm I Can Be Anyone by Dex (PG-13)
Fandom: X-MEN COMICVERSE
Pairing: Scott/Jean, Scott/Emma
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] dexfarkin
Author Website: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dexf/
Why this must be read:
Written as a companion piece to New X-Men #142, this story will tell you everything you need to know about Grant Morrison's Scott Summers and why he's been acting the way he has since he parted ways with Apocalypse. In addition to the insights Dex gives us into the Scott/Jean/Emma situation, he writes a deliciously evil Sebastian Shaw, and there's a naughty satisfaction to be had in watching Shaw skewer Scott so precisely and with such glee.
