Fandom: The Sentinel Title: I Flew Apaches In Desert StormPairing: None Author On LJ: Not as far as I know Author Website: Debra is hosted at Wolfpup's Den under her section on the fanfiction page. Why This Must Be Read:Blair Sandburg's talent for obfuscation is known far and wide. He can lie obfuscate his way out of just about anything. Well, in the Season 1 episode, "The Siege", Blair tells the pilot of a helicopter that he flew apaches in Desert Storm. By all we know, it's just yet another of his many obfuscations. *But*...Debra decided to play with the idea of what if he actually did and the reaction of Major Crime when they find out about it... It makes for quite an interesting read. I Flew Apaches In Desert Storm

Fandom: Big Wolf on Campus Pairing: Merton/Tommy Author on LJ: jenooferAuthor Website: SubduedWhy this must be read: Another sweet first-time fic for our boys. I like this one for the momentary sense of awkwardness, the uncertainty, and the fact that it is subtle for fanfic (the attraction isn’t overly obvious, and things evolve slowly over the course of three stories--and still remain open-ended by the end of the third fic). Merton had never devoted any serious thought to the attractiveness of other guys, but he’d known even before he became friends with the football player that Tommy was probably the best-looking guy in school. He didn’t need to watch the dozens of girls who followed him around like lost sheep to know that the jock’s tanned skin and toned physique probably made him the subject of more than a few hormonal fantasies for several of the student body.
As he’d gotten to know the other boy, however, he’d realised there was more to it than that. The first time Tommy had smiled at him, he’d made a mental note that the guy could easily make it as a male model, but the more smiles Tommy sent his way, the more little sparks of excitement they’d elicited inside Merton. For a while, he’d thought Tommy’s hair could do with a decent cut, but somewhere along the line he’d started to wonder how it would feel curled around his fingers.
He couldn’t recall a specific moment when he’d gone from knowing that other people thought that Tommy was sexy, to finding his best friend sexy himself, but it had happened. He wished too that he could think of a more interesting word to describe it, but the simple fact was that Tommy was sexy. The guy radiated sex, from the casual way he stretched out next to Merton on the bed, to the easy smile he was showing in response to something on the TV, to the way he licked the popcorn butter from his fingers. Fandom: Big Wolf on Campus Pairing: Merton/Tommy Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Fanfiction.net ProfileWhy this must be read: Mallory parodies BWoC fic, because really, there’s so much there *to* mock. Abused!Merton! Suicidal!Merton! Mary Sues galore! And, of course, an abundance of clichés. Here, Mallory tackles the “top six slash situations”--recognizable to any slash fan, even without any BWoC knowledge. Mary had known it was a bad idea to come to this school instead of her beautiful, spunky, demon-fighting cousin, Kethelandrexia Moonstar, Queen of the Gypsies, from the beginning.
It didn't make sense--every time Kethelandrexia transferred to a new high school (which was about once every two or three months), she nailed the best-looking guys and their attractive-in-an-unconvential-sort-of-way best friends right, often at the same time. Until one or both of them died in a battle saving the universe. Which they inevitably did.
"It's easy," Kethel had said. "All you have to do is ignore them and put down their biggest interests, then show up at their houses late one night after having known them for a few hours. Then comes the sex."
Well, Mary had tried all she could. But no matter how hard she tried, Tommy Dawkins just didn't show any interest. What was she doing wrong, she wondered. She'd tried to say all the right things and the right times to Tommy, but he never quite got the hint. It seemed like every time she was making headway, he'd have to run off and meet his friend Merton in the janitor's closet, or the abandoned lube factory, or someplace called the "Manhole."
And every time he _wasn't_ running off to meet Merton, he showed up in the craziest places _with_ Merton, all flushed and disheveled and sticky, with some bizarre excuse as to why he was dressed like Avril Lavigne.
It was enough to make Mary want to swear off men forever. Homotextuality

Fandom: HIGHLANDER Pairing: Duncan/Other Female....Sort of Author on LJ: None that I'm aware of Author Website: Taterville Why this must be read: This is a wonderful explination of how Duncan got his couch. I love the humor in this and how spot on Duncan's internal musings are. The Green Monster

Fandom: HORNBLOWER Pairing: Kennedy/Pellew Author on LJ: crystalwrenAuthor Website: none Why this must be read:Because this is downright creepy. Watching You may not be everyone’s cup of tea. It is dark, violent and quite bleak, in fact, and the characterization might not entirely ring true to some readers. The characters, especially Horatio, are a bit off center, but they retain enough of the characters’ essential qualities that it doesn’t slip entirely into AU. The structure of the story is equally unconventional composed of three first person POVs - Kennedy, Pellew, Hornblower - as the story unreels. But above all, this story is just plain creepy. I found myself thinking on it more than once after reading it and for that reason alone I think it deserves a read. Watching You

I love it when they dance around each other like they can't quite bare it to be close. With Duncan and Methos, it's like they can't quite bare to be apart either. Deep As You Go is the perfect expample of Snarky!Duncan and Pissy!Methos. I just love Destina's writings and I'm so glad to have found a Highlander story by her. Fandom: BTVS Pairing: Ethan/Giles; Giles/Oz Author on LJ: glossingAuthor Website: glossingsWhy this must be read: Oz is appealing to me because he's centered, so still inside. He has the greatest vibes, and that's why he seems to go with Giles so well. They both are sure of who they are. Plus, they have that common interest in music. I also like the portrayal of Ethan in this plotty story. The Baleful, Ingenious, and Curious Memory-Theater of One Ethan Rayne

Fandom: SMALLVILLE Pairing: Clark/Lex: Author on LJ: kelex Author Website:SV MORGUE – Trivial SeriesWhy this must be read: FOR LAUGHS! The Trivial Series began as a lark and just floated along on its own momentum until it was a huge archive of laughs. These quick ficlets are pure dialog and just hilarious. Some of them still make me giggle until I'm crying, and I always forget little parts of the storyline, so I'm always surprised by how funny they still are when I reread them. Take a little while and read them through, or save them and read one a day for awhile. They're great entertainment that lasts and lasts. Kel's got a knack for the Funny. Fandom: ROSWELL Pairing: Various Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: http://www.roswellunderground.comWhy this must be read:This series was somewhat controversial during the Roswell Fandom heyday - not for the boundaries it pushed, or for the raunchiness, or anything like that. But for the way it represented the characters - not as fifteen year old teenagers, but as ten year old children. Growing up together, dealing with their growing alien powers, human children trying to reconcile the differences of those children. Mostly it was cutesy, but it was interesting, too, and one of those things that everyone had an opinion on. It created its own terms (like 'foof' and 'dove'), and was, for better or worse, one of the essential parts of the Roswell Fannish Experience. Just then, Maria spotted Alex Whitman. They had grown very close last year when they were in the same class, because Maria had been separated from Liz.
Now she wasn't sure what to do. Could she still be friends with Alex this year now that they were all in the same class? She hoped so. She really wanted Liz to like Alex. She wanted them all to be friends. She was always talking to Liz about how cool Alex was. He better not blow it!
