Fandom: BABYLON 5
Pairing: Marcus/Ivanova
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] mazily
Author Website: Full of Fictions
Why this must be read:

not jenny's patented lyrical style here doesn't take the edge off of Susan and Marcus's snarky relationship, in fact, the snark is somehow snarkier filtered through Susan's layered daydreams.

Here's an Ivanova who probably knows what she wants, but she's too stubborn or too exhausted to let herself want it, and a Marcus who is conveniently just as stubborn as Susan, and who won't back down.

08:42 pm A Kiss is Just a Kiss by Jane Symons (NC-17)
Fandom: X-FILES
Pairing: Mulder/Krycek
Author on LJ: No
Author Website: Jane's Jewels
Why this must be read:

Sometimes you want the angst, sometimes you want the long complex relationship saga, and sometimes you want the PWP that makes you smile. This is probably one of the earliest X-Files slash stories I remember reading. It has funny lines, it has hot sex, and it has Krycek doing obscene things to French Fries.

09:33 pm Kissing Orlando by Cathy and the companion piece, Kissing Elijah by Talesinbloom
Fandom: LORD OF THE RINGS RPS
Pairing: Elijah Wood/Orlando Bloom
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cupidsbow and [livejournal.com profile] talesinbloom
Author Website: Cathy's Homepage. None for Tales.

Why this must be read:

Authory's Summary: Orlando hits rock bottom; Elijah provides a cushioning mat.

Orlando's broken and Elijah tries to fix him. Only he ends up broken himself. And it's angst but not the kind that makes you grit your teeth and wish that it would all be over with already.

The companion piece is the flip side of the coin, Orlando's side. And I know there's a rule about only reccing one story per post but they're the same story, really, just told by two different people. Anyway, I hope it's okay.

Kissing Orlando and Kissing Elijah.

It's sweet. It's very much the way I imagine Dom and Billy to be.

First off, my apologies for the lack of BtVS recs this month. A family member is in the hospital and RL has really gone crazy for me as a result this month. But to make up for my slacker-ness, I'm going to try and get in some really good recs this last week! I hope everyone enjoys them! :)

Genre: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: None
Author's Website: ???
Author's LJ: ???
Why this MUST be read:

This one does two hard things very well: it writes a souless (not to mention pre-Buffy lovin') Spike that kicks some serious ass... and it creates an original character that almost leaps off the page it's so intense!

Incredible, twisted, a little morbid and creepifying... but in all the right ways! Yep, this one's definitely a keeper!

Oh, and if anyone has the author's current URL or LJ info, I'd really appreciate it so I could update this entry. Thanks! :)

11:40 pm Five Ways The World Won't End (And One Way It Could) by Christina K [PG]
Genre: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: a touch of Spuffy, but it's rather mild
Author's Website: http://chaos.horsechicks.com/
Author's LJ: ???
Why this MUST be read:

Written before the series finale aired, this take on the "5 Things That Didn't Happen" challenge is quite brilliant. It presents 5 different possible endings for the show, all of which make perfect sense and just feel right, even while being untrue. And then, she caps the whole thing off with a final ending that will literally blow you away with its ingenuity and originality. Great stuff.

It has some mild Spuffy in it, but it's so well done and so minimal that, I feel, both pro and anti-Spuffy fans will be able to enjoy it.

11:59 pm Coming Home by Sffan (G)
Fandom:FIREFLY
Pairing: None
Author on LJ:Sffan
Author Website:Into the Black
Why this must be read:Sf has been writing Firefly for a long time, since the show was on, in fact. Mostly she writes slashy fics rated much higher than 'G.' What makes this one stand out is the questions it answers. Any character that abruptly has to leave their old life behind asks themselves if they could go back to their old ways and if they had the chance would they? She answers this in a study about Simon and an undercover job.

He can't seem to stop adjusting his clothes. It's been ages since he's worn the full three-piece suit with a tie and he's finding it oddly uncomfortable. Catching a glimpse of himself in the mirror behind the desk clerk, he barely recognizes the man looking back at him. It's amazing what a bit of blond hair dye can do. The highlights Inara put in his hair make him look like a different person altogether. He removes his red-tinted sunglasses, and puts them in his pocket.

"Dr. Chang," he says arrogantly to the clerk, "I presume you have a suite ready for me?"

"I'm sorry Dr. Chang, but we're required to confirm all guests, just procedure. May I see your identification?" The clerk asks him.

Simon slips out the ident card that Jayne forged for him. It still amazes Simon that Jayne of all people can reproduce nearly flawless Alliance IDs - where did a hired gun learn a skill like that? Simon holds his breath as the clerk swipes the card through the system. When he hears the beep of confirmation, he releases it slowly.
