12:25 am Craziest Pirates of the Caribbean by Wren (PG)
Fandom: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN
Pairing: Anamaria/Marty

Why this must be read:

Everything [livejournal.com profile] commodoresexual writes is phenomenal and this little gem, written for the Tertiary Character Ficathon, is no exception. The pairing is unlikely, yet handled believably and with dignity, but the focus of the story is not just the unlikely love affair of Anamaria and Marty, but the whole crew of the Black Pearl. Jack Sparrow's crew. [livejournal.com profile] commodoresexual shows us a glimpse of that crew, from within and without, she makes characters -- some of whom don't even have canon names -- come alive, makes them flesh and blood and altogether human, makes them a family. Where else but on the Black Pearl would the lone female crewman pair off with the lone midget? Only in Jack Sparrow's strange-glorious crew of the craziest pirates of the Caribbean.

Why this must be read: Because it's funny. Actually it's laugh out loud hilarious. It's not very often that you get a Drunk!Mission fic. The action in this fic is well written but it's everything else that's really the draw. Drunk!Vaughn is too funny. If you need a pick me up in these dark months I really suggest this fic, especially because it's set in Madrid.

Why this must be read:

An extremely erotic and sexy poly story with the focus on the het aspects of the threesome. This is a story about committment and fidelity, about recognizing and valuing that which one has. And its about the intoxicating mix of love and lust and desire and trust within a relationship. I always like reading a threesome story that isn't just about the sex but about the committment between the three characters. Here, [livejournal.com profile] munchkinott captures that dynamic perfectly and also provides some of the hottest het sex imaginable.

This is my last rec of the month, I head home for Christmas tomorrow and won't have reliable computer access. Hope you've enjoyed these recs as much as I've enjoyed making them, it's been a treat!

Fandom: PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN

Why this must be read:

I thought I'd end the month with an AU. Pirates is a great fandom for AUs and this one is no exception. A modern look at the essence of the Sparrow/Norrington relationship. [livejournal.com profile] redorchard13 keeps the feel and characterization of Jack and James true even while completely changing their surroundings. Reincarnation stories are hard to pull off, but this one is perfect, full of sexually charged witty banter and that constant Sparrington battle for the upper hand.

05:11 pm Alexander and the Mirror by CJ (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex... sorta.
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cjandre

Why this must be read:

Get ready for a spam of recs here. Upcoming spam includes the fic I didn't pimp Monday, the fic I didn't pimp yesterday and the fic I won't pimp tomorrow. First is the fic I didn't pimp Monday.

This must be read because this is one of the most twisted and imaginative fics I have ever read in Smallville fandom.

One of my favorite aspects of CJ's writing is that her characters are so, so flawed. Be it emotionally or physically, they have the most difficult handicaps to overcome. Therefore, in her fics, Clark and Lex don't meet cute or meet violent. They meet... codependent isn't quite the word I'm looking for, but they overcome their obstacles together in such a way that they do need each other moreso that in many other fics.

Her Clark and her Lex are hard to read. They are such emotionally investing characters, you feel exhausted after reading a CJ!fic, but you feel so good afterwards as well. Everything worked out, not necessarily has happily ever after, but as happily as realistically possible ever after.

This is certainly the case for Alexander and the Mirror. Lionel, devil that he is, makes a deal with the real thing for ownership of Lex's soul. And what does Lex want more than anything else in this world? The unconditional love and acceptance that Clark gets in his life. And, he wants this from Clark. Knowing this, this devil isn't too hard pressed to manipulate Lionel, Lex and the Kents into his game for Lex's soul. It's a fascinating story, like I already said, the likes of which I've never before encountered in Smallville fandom. In my opinion, you're missing out on something huge if you don't read this fic.

It can be found here, and don't forget to leave CJ some feedback!

05:22 pm Haunted Heart by Henry Jones, Jr. (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex... mostly
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sabershadowkat
Author Website: Sabershadowkat's Home Page
Why this must be read:

And now for the fic I didn't pimp yesterday.

This must be read because you want to bawl your eyes out. Come on, you know you do. You want to have your heart broken into a million different pieces and then have each of those pieces cut even smaller with fine shards of glass, and you want to have it done in such a perfect way that you won't even hate Henry Jones, Jr. for it. In fact, you'll probably be kissing her boots for writing the perfect angsty story.

Clark has an interesting power in this fic: he can see ghosts. And as Lex is dead before the beginning of the story, it stands to reason that he can see Lex. But he learns he can also touch Lex, feel Lex, etc., giving us that delicious NC-17 rating.

It's the ending that will really break most people, but I, personally, saw hope in it. I don't want to spoil it by telling you why I saw what I did, but if you want to chat with me about it after you've read it, you're more than welcome to.

The story is here, and be sure to leave Henry Jones, Jr. some feedback!

05:41 pm Love for Sale by Lenore (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex ...usually

Why this must be read:

And finally, the fic I won't rec tomorrow.

A better question to answer than why this must be read is how in the hell has this not been recced on [livejournal.com profile] crack_van yet??? Well, lucky me, I get to be the one to rec it.

This is the third of my favorite fanfics of all time. In fact, I love it so much, when [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn asked me what my favorite fics were for a game she was planning for [livejournal.com profile] slumberparty04, this was the one I said. Never mind the fact that I was gullible enough to believe it was actually for a game. She and [livejournal.com profile] seperis banded together with [livejournal.com profile] cjandre to bind Love for Sale into a book for me, which I have since mailed to Lenore to autograph and send back because I fangirled her so embarrassingly at [livejournal.com profile] slumberparty04. But enough about that. Let's get to the story.

It's AU in that Lex has never been to Smallville, but it takes place primarily after S2. Clark has run away from home to Metropolis on Red!K, and decides to make some money by becoming a hooker. He's bought by Lex, and Pretty Woman, but with better porn and angst and truly intriguing plot and characters, ensues.

The story could probably be best summed up by the abject embarrassment it has caused both myself and the author. Such as the time Lenore was at work and someone was curious about her writing notebook, where she was making notes for Love for Sale, and she fought that thing out of her coworker's hands like it was her life on the line.

And the time I was reading it in Chinatown in NYC while waiting for my bus to arrive and take me back home, and finally some hippie poked me and said, "Hey, the bus is here. You must be pretty engrossed in that book. What's it about?" I may have blurted something about hookers. I don't really remember.

And that same day when I arrived at work, and when pulling my purse out of my backpack, the book, tangled in the strap, went flying and landed with a thwap on the floor. My boss, who reads everything that words on it, dove for it and asked, "What's this?" "Nothing!" I squeaked, as I yanked it out of her hands, stuffed it into my purse and scurried out of the store to get some lunch. The whole time I was thinking, "That was close."

And then there was the week I was petrified because I'd accidentally left the book in a friend's car. Such is the embarrassment caused by carrying around a book this fucking hot about hot characters from a tv show having hot gay sex every few paragraphs. But in the end, it is worth all embarrassment, because it is, in my not so humble opinion as this month's Smallville Crack Van Driver, my favorite story in all of fandom.

So go! Read! Now! You'll so regret it if you don't.

It's over here, and be sure to leave Lenore some feedback!
