Why this must be read: The ending of X2 prompted more than a few "Jean comes back wrong" stories, and this is one of the better ones. Jean isn't herself, but she isn't pointlessly evil, which makes this story all the more heartbreaking and believable. No one escapes unscathed as the X-Men disintegrate under the pressure of Dark Phoenix, but you never lose hope for them, and that's probably what hurts the most.

Yes, it turns out that not all of Fraser’s anecdotes are about caribou or frostbite—at least one of them involves a fake penis made of seal bone and skin. Interestingly, it was the author of my last recommendation, china_shop, who quoted the folktale in question in her journal, thereby inspiring [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] to comment,

This is seriously warped, but in a totally crazy and cracked out way that I adore. I want a story where the boys are on stakeout and Fraser tells Ray one of these stories (maybe the strap-on one) to see if he's listening, or even awake, and Ray wakes up at the very end, and Fraser's talking about anal sex. Actually, I kinda want to write that. Huh.

To which various people replied, Yes, please. While she didn’t quite write the story she laid out, the one she did write, in which a caffeinated Ray who is obsessed with Fraser’s hands is forcibly reminded just why he hasn’t had sex in the GTO for some time, is wonderful.

I was going to theme my recs this month on sensuality, and stories that appeal to the senses, with feeling and other hippie-tastic concepts. That's fallen through, and now this month's theme is 'Groups that love together stay together'. That basically means that if you're not looking for smut, you've come to the wrong place. Uh, sorry.

Because it's crazy. That should be enough of a reason. But if it's not, I'll give you more:

Based on 70's prison sexploitation movies such as the 'classic' Pam Grier movie 'Black Mama, White Mama' and in a screenplay format that actually does help the story more than hinder it (and prove that the authors really did spend some time and love on this thing),*Ncaged Heat is perhaps one of the funniest things in the popslash universe. Parlance and Sammie do extremely well creating their own characters in nsync's bodies, and the out-of-characterization is enough to make even one of the most stone-faced nsync fan at least raise a humorous eyebrow. And if JC's tattoo and bad-assed attitude won't make you pant with laughter, the 'wocka wocka' guitar during sex scenes sure as hell will. Like the sexploitation flicks, this is not only a hard story to forget, but has been thought out deceivingly well, as shameless as it may get.
