03:35 pm Everyone's Gotta Have a Comeback by Thea (NC-17)
Fandom: FARSCAPE
Pairing: Aeryn/Crais
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] thassalia
Author Website: None
Why this must be read:

I mentioned in my introductory post that I love angst, and this is just the beginning. Many writers have written stories of Aeryn's activities while she was away from Moya during the hiatus from season three to four. Thea creates a dark and painful tale where Crais and Aeryn cross paths, both dealing with their grief in different ways. Crais wants from Aeryn what she's unwilling to give, but he will freely take whatever she offers.

04:48 pm RPS Fandoms...
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: PLEASE READ

I've been getting quite a few questions lately regarding various RPS fandoms. Obviously we here at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van have no philosophical objection to RPS; Popslash and LotRiPS have been with us from the beginning. However, we have decided (and really, phil left the decision to me, so I'll take the heat if there's heat to be taken), not to accept RPS in the small fandom category. This is not really a new policy; it's just the first time it's been spelled out. We've revisited the question several times in the past year and half, but in practice we have never accepted RPS in small fandom.

The reasons:

1. The current waiting list for a small fandom slot is a couple years long.
2. RPS fandoms are nearly as numerous as non-RPS fandoms, if not as prolific.
3. The pairing permutations in a fandom like, for instance, women's college basketball, are endless and ever-changing, making a comprehensive overview impossible.
4. SUM(1:3) = an ugly combination.

I realize there are smaller, self-contained RPS fandoms that may be a better fit in this community (Star Wars RPS has recently been suggested), but it becomes difficult to draw the line between appropriate and not, so we're not going to pick and choose.

It does seem like there's enough interest in RPS fandoms to warrant a multi-fandom recs community, though. If anyone is aware of one let me know; I'll be glad to pimp it here, and will point future volunteers that way.

Thanks!

10:00 pm Everything He Ever Wanted by swmbo (NC-17)
Fandom: LOST
Pairing: Boone/Shannon
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] swmbo
Author Website: swmbo.org
Why this must be read:

This fic deals with the Boone/Shannon relationship the way it should be dealt with--head-on and no holds barred. I've never been a fan of the ship in fic, but I'm a sucker for great Shannon characterization, and here her voice is perfect, not to mention the Boone POV is equally fantastic. The guilt, the angst, the struggle against desire, all of it is on display here as the timeline flips back and forth from the island to flashbacks of their time together years before. It's dark, it's raw, and it's real. And it'll make you love Boone and Shannon all over again.

And Boone stares, awake, into the darkness of the room all night. Every once in a while he glances down at the head resting against his arm, blond hair spread out over his pillow, and prays. The words are a jumble in his head and sour in his stomach, incoherent pleas mixed with the desperate hope that he might be stronger than he believes.
