First there's the mystery of what happened to Elrohir and the angst of Elladan (and the rest of the family) not knowing. That makes it unputdownable because you're wanting to know just as much as everyone else. And even when you do find out, there's fall-out from it, which takes a while to resolve, making this story lovely and long.

Jay writes some lovely friendship stories between the twins and Legolas and this is no exception.

No SN recs listing would be complete without at least one thing from Annie; it's deciding which one thing that's the problem. Annie, more than anyone, is responsible for the healthy state of Sports Night fanfic, even now, five years after we lost the show: she's one of our most prolific authors and (lucky us), also one of our best. This little series of seven connected drabbles (a response to a 'Deadly Sins' challenge at sn100) is a bit of a rarity in that it doesn't focus solely on Dan and Casey, dear to us as those boys are: each one is a snapshot of one of the supporting players, the people who helped give colour and depth and life to the show, but who are almost invariably overlooked when it comes to fan fiction. And every single one of them is perfect.

Everyday Sins

Why this must be read: Wolverine takes Rogue out on a picnic, and they have a quiet moment together. I love how quiet and peaceful this little story is, and how comfortable Wolverine and Rogue are together. My favorite part is the analogy of Rogue working on a piece of honeycomb for just a little bit of honey, and how Wolverine supposes she must think all that work is worth it. See, Logan can be sensitive and shit.

Hey, I'm Aly and I'll be your inaugural Veronica Mars driver. I'd say that I don't have an incredible fondness for Logan/Veronica and threesomes, but that would be an outright lie. I'll hopefully be getting in a variety of stuff though.

Why this must be read:

Good AUs, that fully encompass the way a universe could have worked out, are hard to find. Even harder to find are such AUs that do this while only changing one small thing from canon.

In this case the small change is that Lilly doesn't die.

It seems deceptively simple, but it changes the lives of everyone in Neptune. And not necessarily for the better. It's a universe where Lilly is still pretty much ruling everyone's lives, only now it's in person and not from beyond the grave, and everything is all the messier for it. The fic also does incredible justice to Veronica, and brilliantly shows just how much of "our" Veronica was there all along, even without death and ostracism to give her a push.

It's perfect in a beautiful, gut-wrenching, and hot way. It's incredibly in character.
And ultimately Lilly's fate is all the more tragic, if only because you somehow expect her to know she's gotten a second chance.
