Why this must be read:

Running late one morning Jack grabs the wrong set of dog tags.  Daniel doesn't want to switch them back.  A quiet story that examines the relationship between the two men.  Plus, a little hot sex at the end.

It’s well into the morning before Jack even notices. It starts with a sharp tug on his chest hair when he leans back in his chair, continues with an itch on his chest that he can’t seem to scratch. By 1000 hours, he’s irritated enough that he spins his chair around, reaches into his shirt, and pulls out his dog tags to discover the name Jackson, Daniel etched into the metal.

Why this must be read:

An AU in which Sawyer, seven years prior to the crash, attempts to run a con on a young Kate Austin and ends up falling for her instead. I don't normally go for fics this romantic when it comes to these two, but then again, I'm a universal romantic, so it works. The character voices are still completely intact and you can absolutely see this being an alternate connect between them. Good stuff.

Why this must be read: For me, this is Justin. He's fucked up and not really normal at all, but he's dealing with it and he's eminently loveable. This is a beautiful character study, for Justin and Chris in particular, but also an interesting look at Lynn and at Justin's home life.

Why this must be read:

I swear, y’all, I’ve got some less melancholy fics coming up. I SWEAR. But, for now, y’all will have to be totally bummed out by this short story.

So, I'd been a fan of CTJ's Gilmore Girls fic for a while when I noticed that she was writing X-Men stories too. I had kind of abandoned the X-Men franchise some time in the late-nineties when everything got boring and stupid. I tested the waters of the fandom with this fic and was totally hooked again. It's gut-wrenchingly sad with spot-on characterization, great lines and beautiful narration. I cannot say enough good things about this story.

Dead Girls Don’t Kiss is a story about how experiences change us in ways that are never solely good or bad. And, ultimately, it’s about how we can love people even when they disappoint us.
