Why this must be read: I swear, y’all, I’ve got some less melancholy fics coming up. I SWEAR. But, for now, y’all will have to be totally bummed out by this short story.
So, I'd been a fan of CTJ's Gilmore Girls fic for a while when I noticed that she was writing X-Men stories too. I had kind of abandoned the X-Men franchise some time in the late-nineties when everything got boring and stupid. I tested the waters of the fandom with this fic and was totally hooked again. It's gut-wrenchingly sad with spot-on characterization, great lines and beautiful narration. I cannot say enough good things about this story.
Dead Girls Don’t Kiss is a story about how experiences change us in ways that are never solely good or bad. And, ultimately, it’s about how we can love people even when they disappoint us.
