12:19 am Ghost in the Machine by Nostalgia (PG-13)
Fandom: STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE
Pairing: Ezri/Bashir
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nostalgia_lj
Author Website: Nostalgia for an age yet to come
Why this must be read:

Ezri Dax never really wanted to be joined, on the show she adjusts to her involuntary symbiosis fairly quickly, this fic assumes that she didn't adapt as well or as quickly as was shown. Ezri is hearing (or imagining hearing) the voices of the previous Dax incarnations, and she's not getting along with them. Nostalgia gives distinct voices to the prior hosts as well as giving us an excellent look at Ezri's resentment about being joined.

I never asked for this, she points out, stretching out under the sheet as Julian sleeps beside her.

But you could have said no, says Lela, You could have let us die.

Then shut up and be grateful. I’m not going to live for ever. And then the next host will be some approved genius with no personality who’ll let you do whatever the hell you want.

It isn’t like that, says Jadzia.

Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: Xander Harris/Spike
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] eliade
Author Website: Anna's Stories and So Forth
Why this must be read:

Xander gets some new digs and...let's just say he won't be ending up on Cribs anytime soon. I loved Xander and Spike as reluctant, antagonistic roommates in the fourth season, and this story takes that to another degree. It gives some nice Xander angst, and I like the way that Anna has Xander and Spike complementing each other and being good for each other. This takes place mid-season four during the dreaded Initiative debacle (Maggie's still alive) that Anna actually makes interesting. Plus, there's Ethan. Plus, there's sex. Plus, there's kittens.

05:54 pm Sins of Our Mothers by LKY (PG-13)
Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: none (gen)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lky
Author Website: Tales by LKY
Why this must be read:

LKY is another active writer of Sentinel fiction and the fans are LucKY to have her :-). I considered reccing her award-winning 'Attribute of the Strong' (don't miss it), but decided on this story which introduces the roller-coaster AU, Lineage of Lies.

Why is a kidnapped Blair a threat to national security? What happened to flaky flower-child Naomi? LKY makes a wildly unexpected scenario plausible, and gripping.
