Hi, I'm Rachel (again) and I'll be driving the RPF fandom this month. I'm going to be doing recs for the pairing of Callum Keith Rennie and Hugh Dillon. I will have an overview up shortly, but my hands aren't quite up to speed to type it up right now. Sufficed to say, if you are familiar with the due South fandom, you've heard of both of these men.

Why this must be read: I'm starting off with dayse for a number of reasons. She's very fun to read, her fic is accessible, and it's always well-written. I've known her for years and I really think she's hitting her stride with CRK/HD fic so I'm more than happy to rec her story Anytime You Do Anything as the first CKR/HD crack_van rec.

The song 'Anything' is a hidden track on the the third Headstones album 'Smile and Wave.' For quite some time, it was believed that Callum actually sang on that track along with Hugh. Very recently, Hugh has finally cleared up that rumour and no, it's not actually Callum. That hasn't stopped fandom from still taking that rumour as a fun plot point.

Anytime You Do Anything is about the recording of that song and how Callum finds it impossible to blow Hugh off no matter what time of day or night. The story is fun and snappy and has a fantastic first time sex scene in it. Dayse gives a wonderful Callum voice and this story is no exception.

hey all. I'm thenewhope and I'll be driving Andromeda, one of the featured small fandoms for this month. I'm a femslasher at heart, but Drom is one of the few fandoms where I'm open to pretty much anything, as long as the writing's half way decent. I'll do my best to bring you recs from all over the fandom, though I admit to having a soft spot for the Maru crew. and a bit of a... whatever the hell the polar opposite of a soft spot is for Dylan.

I'm kind of in a rush to get out of town later today, but I want to get a couple recs up and out there before I head out. I'm not reccing in any real order or with any purpose other than to share some of the hard to find gems I've found in what is often a badfic filled fandom. any way, on to the recs.

Why this must be read: this is a great ficlet that captures the wit, snark and friendship Beka and Harper share. there are some great one-liners in it that completely capture the show's funnier side.

Why this must be read: this is my absolute favorite Beka/Harper story of all time. it's set pre-series, on the Maru, and is full of all the hard edges, sharp memories and dark sparks surrounding these characters that the show could never quite gloss over, even when it tried its hardest. it's not a love story, not in the usual sense of the term, but most things in life aren't.

there's some pretty detailed het!sex in it, but it's the sort that will totally work for slashers and possibly turn off the more vanilla straight readers.

Why this must be read:

rowen_r has captured the essence of a Wodehouse farce without too much canonical detail to confuse the newbies. (I'm breaking you in gently.) Her Bertie voice is perfect, and wry humour is to be had in abundance.

Bertie meets and wins both a girl (Prudence) and a Suit (incomparable), but Jeeves is happy with neither. Then an unexpected secret meeting sends Bertie into a panic...

( There was enough scepticism in his voice to serve as a dictionary definition of the word “incredulous”... )

Why this must be read: this is being recc'ed possibly only for this line: Then again, it wasn't like Lance had ever denied that being in the group was a lot like sleeping together without the actual, say, intercourse.
Again, JC/Lance pairing; the plot is that Lance has decided that he's going to college. And so he does, with all that comes with that in terms of angst about his worth, angst about his grades, angst about his homework, and oh yeah, angst about whether or not he's leaving his friends behind. Which might sound depressing, but manages to be sweet and fun and still ring true.
