12:20 pm A Lesser Man by Imadra Blue (NC-17)
Fandom: STAR WARS
Pairing: Anakin/Obi-Wan, Dooku/Obi-Wan
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] imadra_blue
Author's Website: fic can be found at skyehawke
Why this must be read: It's rather unique fic, in that it's an AU that not only looks at what would happen if events in canon had changed, but also how characters would be different if they had never known one another. Plus, this fic has some truly gorgeous language.

06:13 pm Yellow Means Slow by Pru (R)
Fandom: Smallville
Pairing: Clark/Lex (Martha POV)
Author on lj: [livejournal.com profile] rageprufrock
Website:Glitterati
Why this MUST be read:

Pru is a writer, in what I believe is the true sense of the word. She describes the universal emotions we all feel, but that most of us can't articulate. I hold my breath when I read her stuff because somewhere in all that effortless prose there will suddenly be a paragraph that in a hundred words or so perfectly describes what it is to be a parent, or a child, or in love... you get the picture.

Yellow Means Slow is about grief and the process of loss, with Clark standing in for any of us who have had to watch someone we love leave us behind. Yes, it's a death story, and yes, you're going to cry, but really, this one is worth it.

Go read it, and tell Pru how much she rocks:

Hello, I'm Your MFUF driver for the month. As per my last driving experience I no sooner sign up than I have to quit my house for some reason but this year at least it was only temporary so sorry for starting late but I'm here now.

Why this must be read:  This is an old and well known story but although this author is well represented here this story has never been recced. I suspect that it is a bit too open ended for many people's liking but I have a particular fondeness for "how it all started" stories and particuarly for ones that give us a bit of insight into IIlya.

I also consider her to be a fine writer, this is an image which has stayed with me ever since I read this first.

08:08 pm Reliquary by kai (PG-13)
Fandom: HIGHLANDER
Pairing: Methos/Kronos and Methos/Duncan
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kaiz
Author Website: the ZONE
Why this must be read:

"Reliquary" is a haunting portrait of Kronos' relationship with Methos, and of Kronos himself. It's told in a series of short flashbacks from meeting to loss then death, revealing how Methos was everything to Kronos. kai takes the Kronos we see in the series and fleshes him out, shaping a man that is passionate, possessive, full of life, and utterly gorgeous, while staying true to canon.

Reliquary

I'm a huge Kronos fan, so most of my recs are going to be fics involving him. But don't let that scare you *g*.

10:54 pm The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship by m.c. moose (PG-13)
Fandom: STAR TREK: VOYAGER
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: m.c. moose's Voyager Stories
Why this must be read:

This is a wonderful short story exploring the relationship between Janeway and Tuvok. The characterizations are fantastic.--the Doctor, especially, is spot on--but what I like most is the way the author builds the relationship between Tuvok and Janeway. m.c. moose shows both the beginnings of a fledgling friendship and the fully realized friendship and both perspectives are lovely. The feelings are subtle, there are no long expository narratives of how much Tuvok means to Janeway. Rather, the relationship is shown and allowed to unfold. A very nice read that had me grinning by the end.
