09:07 pm Underground by guede_mazaka (PG-13)
Fandom: BOONDOCK SAINTS
Pairing: Gen, Paul Smecker
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] guede_mazaka
Author Website: her journal is tagged nicely, by fandom
Why this must be read: If you want intense, in character Smecker, this is the author for you. The way she sees him - and writes him - is so dead on you'd think that Willam Dafoe is right there in the story pulling off a gay FBI agent in you mind. It's clear and sharp and full of the gray that defines the man. It's intense in the way it doesn't demean the story by giving it a happy ending, but an ending true to the characters despite it all. All of her fics have Smecker written out perfectly, but this one just pushes how dark the twins' path might take Smecker.

It’s an ideal place for furtive meetings.

11:06 pm A Hole in the Hedge by Vyola (PG)
Fandom: GOOD OMENS
Pairing: Pepper-centric (no real pairing)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ladyvyola (Vyola)
Author Website: Petals & Pixels
Why this must be read::

It's rare to find Good Omens stories that concentrate on the Them, and rarer still for those stories to focus on somebody other than Adam, but Vyola's tale introduces us to a Pepper who's no longer a child and whose memories of childhood are, well...
She works hard at it, the not-remembering. It's not even the memories really, the things that did (did not) happen. She knows the difference. She's sure of that.

But she's only human, after all.

The tale is brief, but it contains multitudes...

11:46 pm It Never Rains, but It Pours by BrooklineGirl (NC-17)
Fandom: Due South
Pairing: Frannie/various (but not all at the same time!)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] brooklinegirl
Author Website: BrooklineGirl's Slash
Why this story must be read:

In a word, Frannie. I mean, this is her. Franchesca Vecchio is often dismissed on Due South as simply a girl with a crush the size of Texas on Fraser. BrooklineGirl takes all of the wonderful things that the canon only hints about with Frannie and makes them real. Under her capable hands, Frannie is finally allowed to be a real full character. Frannie has sex with Ray Kowalski and that is just how it would happen if those two ever really decided to get it on. The Frannie/Elaine section is some of the hottest femslash I've ever read, and yet still being adorable and akward. And Frannie gets to finish up this wonderful love fest with Turnbull, who is another character poorly used and abused by the canon, and makes it all so WONDERFUL. Seriously, just read it, because I am not able to ever do this story justice.
