Why this must be read:
I'm one who sometimes need "fix-it fic" when I don't like the way the creator or writers handled a story line. The loss of baby Connor, with the resulting rift in Angel Investigations, was so painful that I can't help wanting a do-over. Corinna's version of events reads like an episode, and the emotions feel true.

Why this must be read:

A kind of companion piece to my last rec: another possible future, another unexpected meeting between old acquaintances. This time it's Will and Tia Dalma who meet up. In a quiet corner of a pub, Will narrates the story of what happens to the love triangle after the Hollywood happy ending, it's not happily ever after, but it's hardly grand tragedy either, just life lived to it's fullest measure, for good and for ill. Dala is one of my favorite writers of Will, and her characterization here particulary rings true for me.

05:48 pm The Right to Remain Silent by Justine and Kass (PG-13)
RL unexpectedly got in the way of my driving the TS van this month, and so to make up for it, I’ll try to have a new rec up every day for the rest of the month.

Fandom: THE SENTINEL

Why this must be read:

I love a good, post-"TSbyBS" story, and it seems to me that there should be more of them. I think the changed dynamic of a more equal canon relationship causes a lot of authors to shy away from exploring the boys' lives post-series. There's a certain "safety" in keeping ‘Jim as detective of the year, and Blair as tag-along Anthropology post-grad,’ or ‘Jim as Sentinel, and Blair as Guide figuring out things as they go along.’ What I think some of those authors forget is that Jim and Blair – at least in my mind – have been equal partners in every sense of the word from the start of their relationship. Jim’s Sentinel abilities need a focus to guide them, and that’s what Blair provides. Likewise, Blair knows a smattering of everything and is all over the map without someone more pragmatic like Jim to tether his esoteric skills to practical uses. Each needs the other in order to be a better Jim or Blair.

In The Right to Remain Silent, Justine and Kass brilliantly concoct a post-series story that matures Jim and Blair one year after TSbyBS. Blair goes out for an evening on the town to re-visit some old haunts with one of his few friends at Rainer who’s still speaking to him. While it starts out as an object lesson in why you can’t go home again, the way the evening shapes up for Blair leaves him with more questions than when he started out – including ones about his attraction to Jim. This story is beautifully written, with terrific characterizations, fabulous dialog, and an amazing post-"TSbyBS" evolved Jim and Blair. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I do.

Why this story must be read:

And it is stories like this that make me love [livejournal.com profile] stop_drop_porn so very much. I am continually in awe of what these wonderfully talented women are capable of producing in 24 hours or less. Wonderfully still in character, Ray and Ray are still very much the guys that we know and love. Vecchio just happens to be a girl. And he discovers some of the wonderful points of having sex as a girl, which is always just fun!

Why this must be read:

I love how the vibe of this story is Young Justice but grown-up, set firmly during the Teen Titans v.3 run but still emotionally based in everything they've gone through. Bart and Tim are friends, and whatever else they may become won't change that fact. I sort of want to hug this story.

Fandom: STARGATE SG1
Pairing: Rodney/Sam/Jonas
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kate98
Author Website: Fic in memories
Why this must be read:

Because after saving the world it's always important to celebrate properly. This takes place after Redemption where Rodney has taken Jonas out to celebrate, and Jonas calls Sam out for assistance. And with the liberal application of alcohol one of the smartest threesomes of the SGC ensues.

The author hits all three characters' voices well - Rodney in his self-confidence, Jonas's enthusiasm and naivety of Earth, and Sam's exasperated acceptance of the situation. This is a light-hearted, funny piece - with bonus Indiana Jones references.
