It's about the effective and terrible ways in which the Wraith go about making humans their unwilling allies, and Domenika has done an incredible job of making this topic accessible, creating a wonderful original character, and slowly revealing the ethical dilemma at the heart of her story. These 3 short stories of John, Aeryn, and Chiana are poignant, heartrending glimpses into a future that just might be for each of them. It’s hard to find words eloquent enough to describe just how excellent cofax7’s writing is. She’s written a lot of Farscape fic and everything is textured, layered, and full of feeling. But life and families are more complicated than that. This story shows the back and forth, the anger and forgiveness and anger again that layers your understanding of people and continues relationships even after those people are gone. "Pet?" KatBear deals with both the non-con and the aftermath deftly, using the sex to move the plot forward and taking the time to deal with the mental trauma that follows. Obi-Wan suffers, but realistically. It's not an easy road back for him, despite the support he gets from Qui-Gon and the other Jedi. Plus, there is no sparkly magic buttsex at the end that fixes everything, which elvates this story head and shoulders above most rape fic in my mind. Jailbait | | |
