As Taliesin says in the short fore-word of the fic: "This story contains a completely impossible crossover, given the respective time periods of the shows involved. But then, given the basic premise of the story, I'm not sure anyone complaining about realism has a leg to stand on, now do they?"
It was enough to get me reading. And I was trying to find out with what show this fic would cross-over and yet she managed to surprise me. I'm not giving away the surprise though. I want you to be as pleaseantly surprised as I was while reading this fic. She has the "Illya voice" right and even though this is an unusual situation our agents find themselves in, they're not out of character. ( excerpt )Woof! | | |

They are one and the same story, told from Bodie's then Doyle's point of view. They took place at the beginning of their partnership and describe with subtlety, a keen sense of observation and a lot of tenderness for the characters how their relationship is slowly going to develop through the early misunderstandings, their mutual efforts and the plights of their everyday's work. Bodie, it was obvious, didn't know one thing about being a partner. For all his training and posturing, this was one area Bodie couldn't fake, couldn't bluff his way through. Every day had become a competition between them, a battle of wills and a battle of wits that left Doyle feeling tired and edgy.
The Bisto Kids? Nah. Not likely. Not with him. Bodie only cared about one person—himself.Assuredly Bodie has much to learn in that regard. And it worries Cowley somehow. "How is the partnership coming, Bodie?"
"I don't know, sir. You have our track record."
"Oh, I can read the reports. I can watch you two go about your assignments, but it's the little things that count, Bodie."
The little things. Yeah, I know. "Yes, sir. Maybe you should ask Doyle, sir," he responded.
"Doyle's not the problem here, Bodie."
"Well, then what do you want from me, sir?"

Fandom: STARSKY AND HUTCH Pairing: None Author on LJ: Unknown I know it's past the season, but this gem of a Christmas story just NEEDS to be read. It's post-SR and Starsky is still recovering from the near-fatal Gunther shooting. And so is Hutch, who has arranged a special Christmas present for Starsky. The story is told from Merle's POV and we get to see the guys from the outside looking in. Verlaine has painted a heartbreaking picture of love and recovery without once ever crossing the line into schmaltz.. It made me cry the first time I read it and the second and yes, even the third. Excerpt -
That smile shoulda told me what was comin', but I still felt my breath catch when Starsky got outta the car. It was mainly the way he got out. So slow, so much hard work. He usta bounce, strut—float like Mohammed Ali when he was really workin' it. Now, left hand on the top of the door, first one leg lifted out, and then the other, and then slowly, slowly, his body straightened up. A long stop, just balanced there, and then he shuffled away from the car far enough for Hutchinson to shut the door. They stood there, leanin' together, like two trees hit by a storm, and all that was holdin' them upright was each other. Hutchinson bent his head down, like he was listenin', and then nodded. He stepped back just a little and let Starsky stand by himself, with nothin' but his cane. Even from the office, I could see just how much of a job it was. Truly one of my favourite Starsky and Hutch stories from one of my favourite writers. A story for all seasons. | | |

This is a light hearted ensemble fic that is fun and so very, very Farscape. There's kissing and flying monkeys [of sorts] and frelling. How could anyone resist that? Lollygagging

But it does have a wonderful Justin as a hooker, Lance & JC as Lawyers, other pop members wandering in and out of the landscape ... and maybe a threat of murder. Just to keep things interesting. As if the screen wasn't scorching enough. Zarah writes short, deceptively simple chapters that say a lot so take a trip and discover Street Life. It's available on the side through the Popslash tab. And although the author has moved onto other fandoms, I recommend spending some time on her page. She's a wonderful author to read all her stuff. You'll discover some hidden gems in every fandom.
