Why this must be read:

A fun, action-packed AU adventure story where NSYNC are a team of vigilante crime fighters with cool code-names and superpowers out to stop a super-villain behind a city-wide blackout (that he instigated for nefarious reasons, of course).

I like the fast-paced storytelling and intricate plot. I also like how canon and fanon interpretations of the guys are incorporated into their strengths and weaknesses and these traits complement each other within the group whole. All in all, it is just a delightful read.

Joey could now do things that nobody else could, and he followed his friend JC's example, using his extraordinary abilities to help other people, to keep them from becoming victims of circumstances beyond their control, the way he had. )

11:27 am Found by Ashley Pitt (PG)
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Leroy Jethro Gibbs/Donald 'Ducky' Mallard
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ashley_pitt
Author Website: Not applicable

Why this must be read:

Ashley is a new writer to NCIS fandom, but already she has captured the characters extremely well, and as such deserves this recommendation. Found is a sequel to Ashley's Lost, but it stands quite well on its own. It's short and sweet and tells the honest story of Ducky reaching and making a decision, and shows the depth of love that Gibbs has for him as he makes his own decision.

Why this must be read: The author calls this an 'AAU', because it's set in a completely different world from ours - and wow, is it a fascinating one, and not just for Japanophiles... One of the most gorgeously written things ever, with lots of attention to detail and a beautifully sensual atmosphere.

Why this must be read: Writing good dialogue is pretty damn hard - but here it seems effortless, as if Mandy was following Billy and Dom through a supermarket. Familiar, warm and comfortable, describing the beauty of everyday life perfectly.

09:00 pm Out of the Cold by Vickie Moseley (R)
Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: Gen
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Vickie's website
Why this must be read: I'm rather fond of stories of Mulder profiling before he finds the X-Files, but there aren't as many as I would like. This was the first I'd read of its kind, but though I have indeed read the famous "Oklahoma", I think this is my favorite of the genre.

Mulder is so...Mulder. His insights are typically brilliant and spooky, he's focused on the case even at the expense of his health and reputation, he disregards authority to do what he thinks best--and more often than not, he's right. The case is exactly the kind of thing we might see on the show, and it's written and explained at least as well as an actual episode.
