Why this must be read:
Warning: Spoilers for spoilers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

I like this during and post-Hogwarts picture of how Harry's feelings for Snape morph over time. The story isn't very long, but the events of the story lead the reader to accept the relationship, and you get a sense of how Harry himself changes, and a glimpse of what a youthful Snape was like. Very nicely handled!

Why this must be read:

This follows House as he goes through rehab and traces the slow reparation of his relationship with Wilson; had the series gone in this direction, I can't imagine them having done as good a job. It's written sparsely but realistically and you can't help but feel tremendously hopeful after reading this. At least, I can't.

The second time, on day five (day five out of sixty, House thinks, and how the hell is he going to go through fifty-five more days of this shit?) he doesn’t hang up on Wilson right away. He sits on the edge of his narrow bed and holds the phone to his ear and says nothing, listening to Wilson breathe. Down the hall, he can hear someone throwing up. Someone else is yelling and breaking things—the faint crash-thump-scrape has become the rhythm of this place.

“How’s it going?” Wilson asks, and House swallows a brittle laugh.

“Oh, it’s great,” he says. “Fabulous. So glad you signed me up.”

Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: Vin/Ezra, Buck/Chris

Why this must be read:

Every fandom must have a vampire AU and considering all the sexual subtexts in the vampire mythos, it has to be slash. Camino del Diablo fulfills the possibilities brilliantly.

Virtually overnight Four Corners became a ghost town and the Seven were turned. One hundred and twenty-five years later their relationships are still warped by the traumas of that experience. Now, they hunt their own kind, always searching for the obsessed vampire who set the deadly chain of events in motion and still holds Chris in limbo.

As the Seven travel towards what used to be Four Corners on their annual pilgimage -

  • Archeologists begin excavations to explore the mysterious disappearance of Four Corners and the truth about the legend of the Magnificent Seven.

  • Vampire hunters, having been told they have a chance at killing seven masters, an unheard of number to travel together, lie in wait.

  • Chris's sire forms an unholy alliance in a plot to reclaim him.

Diamondback skillfully weaves multiple threads of the story together, moving back and forth between present day and the story of how the Seven were turned. Told with psychological intensity and breath-taking action Camino del Diablo mesmerizes the reader.
