Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: none
Author on LiveJournal: [profile] ksl2025

Why this must be read: This story takes another look at a stronger and deeper Tony than is often portrayed in fanfic or understood by his co-workers on the show.  Apparently, Tony doesn't need the piano lessons that Ziva offered in "Boxed In."

"Con affeto" is a musical term that means to play with emotion or affect.  Katherine writes so that you can hear the music, see the bar, taste the bourbon, and feel the tension ebb and flow.

Sit back, relax and enjoy Con Affeto.

12:12 pm Four People Who Knew and One Who Didn’t by Kaye (PG)
Yep, I’m pushing Kaye again, but it's not my fault she excels at writing “and now for something completely different” fic. In fact, I’d be reccing three of her stories this month, but she still hasn’t archived the other one I want everyone to read (grumble, grumble).

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] peg22
Author Website: her slash is stored here, while her gen is parked here.

Why this must be read:

In this variation of a ‘five things’ fic, Kaye provides strong, clear voices to little heard from characters in the fandom, such as Edith Dobey and Minnie. By bringing these background characters into the foreground, we gain a richer sense of the social environment in which Starsky and Hutch live, making the oft-times surreal Bay City feel more like a real place. Furthermore, as each of these family members, friends, or co-workers are embedded in their own lives, they provide a unique point-of-view on the evolving relationship between the lead characters.

What’s more, unlike other ‘My God, S & H are doing the backseat mambo in the Torino!’ fics, the revelations within this story are not limited to Starsky and Hutch’s sex lives. By setting each section at a different point of time, Kaye allows us to observe a full range of Starsky and Hutch’s interactions with each other. All of this, along with glimpses into the past that should be canon, make the fun pay-off at the end taste that much sweeter.

05:06 pm Worse Than His Bite by Cyc (PG13)
Fandom: THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN
Pairing: Chris/Ezra
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] cycnus39
Author Website: Cyc Fic Inc
Why this must be read:

Cyc has a habit of producing little ficlets that I just fall in love with. Some are silly, some crack me up completely, and some - like this one - just make me envious. I love the insight into Chris's psyche with this one, love how he tries to sort out his thoughts and feelings. I love the way Buck and Ezra are also written into this one and their characterisation also. It all rings very true to me and it's a story I keep coming back to over and over again.

Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Tim Drake/Kon-El (Robin/Superboy)

Author Websites: Pardon Our Nerds and Stories by Brown Betty

Why this must be read:
"You Each Time" has already been rec'd here but I think this whole series is worth savoring. It's got plotty goodness from the start (which I can't spoil by describing), making out, Bart being adorable, Tim Angst®, Dorky!Kon, brotherly Dick, and laugh-inducing scenes--seriously, this has just what I like in a Tim/Kon story. It's one of those storyverses that you don't want to leave.

09:31 pm With a Chance to Make It Good by Livia and Te (NC-17)
Fandom: DC COMICS
Pairing: Roy Harper/Connor Hawke (Arsenal/Green Arrow)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] liviapenn and [livejournal.com profile] thete1
Author Websites: livia's library and Teland

Why this must be read:
My knowledge of Green Arrow canon is sketchy (I've read some, but not widely or deeply), so my basis for liking this story isn't deeply grounded in comics canon. But as a story, it's well worth reading, and the fact that I liked it without knowing the full GA canon should encourage others to give it a try. It's got a hot sweetness, and I heart this Roy deeply.

09:52 pm One Certain Thing by Miss Becky (PG)
Fandom: MISCELLANEOUS JOHNNY DEPP MOVIES (From Hell)
Pairing: none
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] evilmissbecky
Author Website: at fanfiction.net
Why this must be read: Miss Becky continues her insightful examination of the relationship between Godley and Abberline. In this short piece, Godley sees what the death of his wife does to Abberline.

FROM HELL at IMDB

He leads Abberline out the door, onto the porch, down the steps, onto the sidewalk. He raises his hand, hailing a carriage. From the day they were first partnered, Abberline has been the mentor, but Godley has been the protector. There is steel in the Inspector, but there is also a vulnerability that is far too exposed. Some of it, Godley knows, comes from the visions, and the horrors Abberline sees when he closes his eyes, but not all.

Not all.

Why this must be read: And even after "death" Abberline is still helping Godley solve cases. This short piece left me grinning. Slightly AU, though, from the movie, but did anyone really like how the movie ended? *g*
