06:02 am I Fought the Law, by Andi and Charli Charleville (PG-13)
i love cross-overs, and think it's completely unfair that we only get to rec 1 crossover a month! ::pouts::  be that as it may, i hope you enjoy the following reccomendation:

Title:  I Fought the Law
Fandoms: Magnificent 7: ATF AU/ The Sentinel
Pairing: N/A, Gen
Authors on LJ: Unknown
Authors' Websites:  Unknown, but Fic for both available at Lady Angel's Library
Length: (Est) 150k, broken into 5 parts

Why this must be read:

I'm a big fan of Mag7:ATF/ Sentinel crossovers, and i do mean a *big* fan.  I love the interaction between Jim Ellison and Chris Larabee, and I love watching them deciding they can 1) work together and 2) piss everyone off in the process with glee.  It can be the most serious fic in the world, but that interaction dynamic still makes me giggle happily.

This story is one of my favorites.  I like long, plotty, action/adventure type stories, and this one is longish, and plotty.  It's a little light on the action, although given the characters involved, that's not necessarily a bad thing.  Face it, competent people don't really screw up all that much, and are adaptable to quickly changing situations.  And all of the characters here are canonically competent, so smoothly executed strategies like the ones featured in this story are par for the course.  Andi and Charli focus more on the team interactions, between members of the same teams, and members of the two different shows, all showcased against the backdrop of a case story.

While I came into the Magnificent 7 fandom via a cross-over from Cindy Combs' Refuge, this story should work in the opposite manner, being a good transitional bridge/ introduction to The Sentinel universe.  And as Sentinel is my first fandom, my beloved alma mater of fandom, so to speak, I can't help but think that's a good thing.

Title: When Methos Met Muraki, by Amand-r (NC-17)
Pairing: Methos/Muraki
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] amand_r
Author Website: for recent work, try her LJ tag fanfic
Why this must be read:
I usually avoid crossovers like the plague unless I see a strong rec or work by an author I really, really like. Highlander has been overrun by them lately, 90% of them featuring Methos transplanted into another universe, infodumping and humping and snarking like Christmas. Bah, humbug. I am currently enjoying the pants off one that's Duncan-centric ("To Touch the Face" by [livejournal.com profile] macgeorge1, HL/Constantine), but it's a WIP and ineligible. However, in searching through recent months' worth of posts, I found one I'd overlooked by a favorite author, involving a fandom that I don't know but that was fun to read and fine and sexy regardless.* Comments indicate that knowledge of the crossed show is gravy. However, for the X-over-phobes whose eyes may have fallen on this by accident, go and read. It has snarky humping Methos in a pickle, saying things like:

Title: Worth Fighting For by Eleri McCleod
Pairing: Jack O'Neill/Faith
Author on LJ: ?
Author Website: Stories on Twisting the Hellmouth

Why this must be read:

Faith wakes up married to Jack but she does not remember the last 3 years of her life. This story is a great blend of the Stargate and Buffy worlds.  Faith’s interaction with SG-1 is great as are her phone calls to Buffy and Willow as she tries to figure out what happened to her memories.

01:48 pm Moments when you can't deny what's true, by nafs, rated R
Fandom: POPSLASH (/Bandom crossover)
Pairing: Nick Carter/Patrick Stump
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] nafs
Author Website: http://home.passport.ca/~nafs/
Why this must be read:

Okay, I cannot believe nobody recced this last year. I remember trying to calculate whether the story would be finished before I stepped off the [livejournal.com profile] crack_van, and deciding that it wouldn't, so the next person would get it. But I have scoured the popslash memories, and it really doesn't seem to be there.

This story is... a crossover, I suppose, except are there such things as crossovers, when it's Real People we're talking about? Nick Carter is booked to play for a birthday party as a surprise, and ends up asking Patrick Stump to produce the new solo album he's struggling with. And things develop.

It's delightful for the characters it presents. And for the picture of how the album goes—I for one am now waiting for the album to be released! Hey, we can dream. Author [livejournal.com profile] nafs gives us guys who breathe, eat and sleep music.

Title: A momentary connection
Pairing: Leroy Jethro Gibbs/ Tony DiNozzo/ Don Eppes
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] crimsonquills
Author Website: here
Why this must be read:

I'm not really a Gibbs/DiNozzo kind of girl, but some people just make them seem HOT together. Nix is one of them.

For a while now, I haven't decided which show I like best, NCIS or Numb3rs. Both shows have hot guys, guns, alpha males and geeks. Oh, and good storylines of course.

So, when I found this little gem, my heart skipped a couple of beats and had to remind myself to keep on breathing.

Here's my advice to you. Read it. And don't forget to breathe!

Title: Any Ruffian of the Sky
Pairing: Kara Thrace/Malcolm Reynolds
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] natalexx
Author Website: index of fanfic on LJ
Why this must be read: Heh, it looks like we can't get away from the BSG/Firefly crossovers. [livejournal.com profile] natalexx is one of my favorite writers of fanfic, and the pairing (Kara and Mal!) is a natural fit--two wounded souls who love the freedom of flying.

07:03 pm NUMB3RS/Medium (PG13)
Title: Go-Cart Charlie by Red Soprano
Pairing: Don, Charlie, Alan, Allison
Author on LJ: N/A
Author Website: Red Soprano’s NUMB3RS Fanfiction
Why this must be read: One of the first Gen Numb3rs crossovers I’d ever read, and if it hadn’t been nominated at Numb3rs Awards I would have missed it. The author is right when she says in her notes that this is a story about the Eppes men as seen through Allison’s eyes. Just like the series, there’s some action/adventure mixed in with the family stuff.

"Alan says Charlie just doesn't like wearing his helmet, but I think he would if he were reminded. Did I mention to you that he's a little absent-minded?" The woman's eyes misted with sudden tears. "Someone wants to hurt my son. Why on earth would they want to hurt him? Please warn my husband. It would kill Alan to lose Charlie, too."

Allison reached across the table to take her hand and reassure her, but in that instant, she was gone.

"Wait! Dammit! An address would be nice!" Allison dropped her head in her hands in weary frustration.

"Charlie. No last name, but he crashes go-carts." She got up and retrieved the laptop computer from the counter. "Okay, I can do this. Just how many Go-cart Charlies can there be in the L.A. area?"

Title: Metamorphosis by T W Lewis
Pairing: Blair/Teal'c, Blair/Jim
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] gardendoor
Author Website: Gardendoor Fanfiction Archive
Why this must be read:

I read and enjoyed this story back when I knew nothing more of SG:1 than that Jack and Daniel made a cute couple in songvids. Nowadays, I actually have some SG:1 eps under my belt and it enhances the pleasure, even though this is most definitely also a Sentinel story (and has no Daniel Jackson). It's long, it's plotty, it looks at what happens when Blair goes from disgrace in Cascade to being a member of a certain SG team which currently has a gap in its membership. Themes of betrayal, acceptance and a few doses of culture shock make their appearance. 'Metamorphosis' is a good, solid read.

Title: The Possibility by [livejournal.com profile] labingi
Pairing: Light/L, Naoe/Takaya, L/Chiaki
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] labingi
Author Website: N/A
Why this must be read: "The Possibility" is a fabulous crossover which uses the Mirage of Blaze mythology and characters to play with some very interesting themes and ideas in the Death Note 'verse. L is the focus of the story, and [livejournal.com profile] labingi gives him a very innovative and intriguing backstory which is revealed slowly through some of the Mirage of Blaze characters - Chiaki in particular - and though I don't want to give away what that is, I will say it leads him to having more in common with Light than he would have thought. Additionally, this incarnation of Light is a beautifully human, even sympathetic one, who nonetheless is completely unrelenting in his devotion to his dream; [livejournal.com profile] labingi writes him so we can see both why L is drawn to him and why he must be stopped.

My favorite element of this story is the convincing nature of the Light/L, often an incredibly difficult pairing to pull off, but it's also absolutely worth reading for the wonderful plot, the depth of the (highly in-character!) characters, and what it says about the human experience.

11:52 pm Star Wars / Pirates of the Caribbean (R)
Title: The Art of Getting Sober by Little Owl
Pairing: Obi-Wan/Jack
Length: 4032 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] the_little_owl
Author Website: MasterApprentice fics
Why this must be read: For Crossover Day, here is a fic by Little Owl, whose work is by turns comical, steamy and angsty. All in this one fic, too. I really admire her smooth transitions in her long story, though 'Art' is a mid-length PWP that starts out with a literal bang: Padawan Kenobi crashes his speeder, a very special red Fer'ahri, into none other than Senator Palpatine's vehicle. Palpatine is quite amiable and, um, expansive about the incident and, well, this story was written in response to the prompt: 'Obi-Wan wakes up in bed with an amorous stranger ...' The pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean is the one you'd think most likely to be in this story, and a penitent Obi-Wan reciting his own numerous sins isn't to be missed.
