08:31 am The Vietnam Chronicles by Avatar2 and i'mpeckable (PG)
Fandom: THE A-TEAM
Pairing: gen
Length: 11 sections ranging from 1000 to 7600 words
Author on LJ: unknown
Author Website: The Vietnam Chronicles Community
Why this must be read: This is a great little series - don't let fanfiction.net scare you away. I have some minor quibbles (mostly with BA's dialogue), but not enough to take away from the enjoyment of the stories. The series hasn't been updated since 2005, so I think it's safe to consider it "finished" for the time being, but it's also not the type that leaves you hanging. The authors have alternated writing the sections, and each story is pretty self-contained although there are repeating original characters. It's essentially the story of how the team comes together in Vietnam, and there really can't be enough of those stories, can there?

BA made his way to the command post, still breathing hard. )

10:25 am Strobe, by Shaman (NC-17)
Fandom: SMALLVILLE
Pairing: Clark/Lex; Clark/Other
Warnings: Underage Non-Con
Length: 15,500 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] lexalicious70
Author Website: Shaman's Watchtower

Why this must be read:

"WANTED
ANY AND ALL INFORMATION ABOUT THE WHEREABOUTS OF CLARK KENT. LAST SEEN AT THE FRONT GATES OF SMALLVILLE HIGH ON MONDAY, MARCH 6th, AT 3 P.M. MISSING ENDANGERED/ABDUCTED"

- Chloe's poster

This is my fave kidnap fic. A 15 yr-old Clark is snared and introduced to a dark basement of thick chains and slim whips, naked fresh-washed boys, and the serious business of live internet underage porn. omg it's so hot.

Additional gratification can be had by virtue of its all being pig-headed Jonathan's fault (yay! group-raspberry!) -- and by a certain bald billionaire being his swifty, smoothy, slinky Private Eye!Lex-self, going all Sherlock Holmes_with_a_black_AmEx_card on us.

Young Clark: I've never been afraid of dying before, he thought softly, but I am now. God help me, I am so afraid.

Fandom: TORCHWOOD
Pairing: Jack/Ianto
Length: ~6800 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] ukcalico
Author's Website: the food and porn emporium
Why this must be read:

Ianto starts work at Torchwood, and Jack starts working Ianto. This story is perfect Torchwood -- layer upon layer of lies and sex and human needs and failings. Because we know something Jack doesn't, it's also just a little heartbreaking.

10:55 am CAN OF WORMS by Helena Handbasket [NC 17]
Fandom: Saiyuki
Title: Can of Worms
Pairing: [Burial and Gaiden] Hakkai/Gojyo, past Tenpou/Kenren
Author: Helena Handbasket, [livejournal.com profile] hhandbasket
Website: Handbasket Holidays appears to be defunct.
Rating: NC17

Why this fic must be read:

From the moment Gojyo, without the slightest trace of irony, told his post-Centipede demon/post-Banri room-mate, Hakkai, "I just want the guys to know you like I do," I was hooked by topnotch comedy writer and satirist, Helena Handbasket. Her stories string one side-splitting moment after another, and this tale, where Fu, a jovial and artistic OC drunk military comrade from the Western Army in Gaiden, drops into Gojyo's favourite bar one night and inadvertently wipes out his status as a ladies' man for all time, is exceptional. The tussle which leads to Gojyo's moment of truth is believable, and there's enough of a tragic bite from Hakkai and Gojyo's history to stop it from dissolving into complete schmoop. It takes a good humourist to keep the bitterness in Saiyuki from overpowering the sweetness. [livejournal.com profile] hhandbasket knows her œuvre.
