This fis is actually a collection of 50 sentences, prompted by a list of words taken from the 1character community. A fic like this could come off feeling like just a list of disjointed sentences, but zanetsugirl manages make it into a series of glimpses into Leonardo's life that leave you with the feeling that maybe you've been spying.

Leo defines his childhood as carefully as he does everything else, so he knows it ended when he first realized two things: 1) that one day, ninjitsu wouldn’t be enough to win and 2) on that day he, as leader, would probably have to choose who wouldn’t be coming home.

Why this must be read: Normally I do not like Chris Kane - in any story - sorry. But candygramme sells Chris to me in this piece. He's messed up, misunderstood and prone to use his fists first rather than his head. However, one Steve Carlson sees beyond all that male bravado to the real Christian Kane and just f*cking owns him. And really that's what Chris has wanted all along. Guh. *g*

Why this must be read: I am not a huge fan of Near or Mello. I'm not a huge fan of Near/Mello. But, dear God, this was excellent. I had the pleasure of rewriting one of darkluna's fics for remix this year and right in the middle of that, she posted this gem. It about sent me into conniptions, because it's one of those rare fics that makes me think, "Why do I bother even trying?"

I got over that, and then had the pleasure of gushing and telling her how fantastic this is. Once you read it, you'll understand and gush too.

Author's Summary: Near was almost enough of a bastard to be interesting, Mello thought sometimes, but quickly banished that idea, making a mental note to possibly burn it out of his brain if he could find the offending synapses.

The question remains in this story, who is really in charge? Zoe knows and is very amused with Mal's denial.

Highly recommended because both Han and Leia are perfectly in-character, and their interaction is beautifully understated. The author manages to take a quiet moment and turn it into something softly affecting and romantic without being obvious or sappy about it at all. (And yes, this is a one-shot story, despite the fact that its title might indicate otherwise to some. According to the author herself, the title 'reference[s] the various 'love stories' within the fic'.) Enjoy!
