Fandom: TOUR OF DUTY Pairing: Lieutenant Myron Goldman/Lieutenant John J McKay Length: 1271 words When Myron Goldman lost his lover, Alex Devlin to a bicycle bomb in Saigon, it undid him in so many ways. He pushed everyone away, managed to get his best friend and sergeant, Zeke Anderson sent home, became unapproachable and closed himself off from anyone who cared about him. Johnny's been deeply hurt by Alex's death as well. Unlike Goldman, he doesn't shut down, but instead does everything he can to reach his friend using the one thing they have between them- Alex's death. This is a sad little story of Johnny again trying to reach out, trying to get Goldman to break out of his isolation and pain, only to fail even more miserably. This is a wonderful look at just how messed up Myron is, what he thinks he should feel and what he is afraid to face about himself, about his feelings for Zeke and his grief over Alex. Excerpt: Which McKay seemed to take as a challenge rather than a criticism, as he pressed in close, stroking a hand down Myron's face. "I miss her, too. Every day. But I'm still alive." He kept going, putting fingers over the automatic denial that was on Myron's lips. "You're not alive. You're not. You're marking time, and barely even that." Vidder: humansrsuperiorMusical artist: VAST (I think)Pairing: Tenth Doctor/Rose Tyler Vidder on LJ: humansrsuperiorVidder's website: Livejournal Tags Why this vid kicks ass: This Doctor Who fanvid is amazing--and I'm not a Ten/Rose shipper. I really liked how the vidder used the pale-green-lined-effect (apparently, called a TV Look effect) to show memory and spliced it with the regular present-day normal color images. humansrsuperior captures the emo!Doctor's man-pain so well. If you *are* a Doctor/Rose shipper, watch this vid. Even if you are sick and tired of Doctor/Rose (and, honestly, I understand how you'd get there), watch this vid for its technical excellence. Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Elements of Tenth Doctor/Jack Harkness, but no more than in canon Length: 2,591 words Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: Account on A Teaspoon and an Open MindWhy this must be read: The Doctor and Jack get drunk at a dive located at the end of the universe. That's pretty much the plot of this fic. With Jack being, well, Jack, the conversation inevitably turns to sex, eventually leading to the fact that the Doctor has a Top Five List of humans he would sleep with--that is, if he ever condescended to shag a human, of course. *cough*I was giggling throughout this fic, but #4 on the list made me howl. Fandom: HIKARU NO GO Pairing: Shindou/Touya Length: one-shot Author on LJ: bookshopAuthor Website: notquiteroyal.netWhy this must be read:WHAT. WHAT. I could have sworn this fic had been recced here before, and when I realized it wasn't (after checking like seven times), knew it was a state of affairs that had to be rectified! Even though I still have to find a person in this fandom who hasn't read this and loved it. This is a fic that is absolutely my number one favourite fic in all Hikago fandom, ever. It's one of the first ones I read and after that I've periodically gone back to re-read - and it's just as wonderful then as it was the first time I read it. I could have recced any other fic by this author as well, but this one has a special place in my heart ♥ This, this is how Hikaru and Touya are, and why they make me glow with love for them, and why their eternal rivalry pwns all my other OTPs. ( Plus, it's hilarious! )A Whole New Apocalypse* This is my last rec here this month, so thank you all who took an interest! I hope there were some fics you liked :)

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo Length: 3900 Author on LJ: malnpudlAuthor Website:Why this Must be read: I love a good cliche fic and this author writes it up in the best way. There's undercover stuff and pretending to be gay and best of all, Gibbs being able to make Tony's head spin. Gibbs, his boss, his "boyfriend," who looked comfortable and relaxed, oddly at home in the hottest gay nightclub in town, in spite of the blatantly admiring looks he was receiving from a number of the other patrons.
Tony caught sight of their suspects entering the club, and his eyes flicked to meet Gibbs'. "We've got company."
Gibbs' only response was to set his beer down on the bar, slide his arms around Tony's waist, and lean in to bite him none too gently on the throat as he slid his hands down to cup Tony's ass. "Make it good," Gibbs whispered, his breath hot in Tony's ear. "Nick."Story

Fandom: STAR TREK: ENTERPRISE Pairing: Reed/T'Pol Length: medium-long Author on LJ: none known Author Website: navigatio on ff.netWhy this must be read:The characters are well-written, the angst is well-done, the plot is an old one done well, and navigatio has taken an unusual pairing and made it work. And it's about a Vulcan. What's not to love? Usually when a Vulcan is paired with a human, the human is written as a very emotional person who is able to bulldoze through the cultural differences and the logical objections of the Vulcan and sweep him/her off his/her feet, metaphorically speaking. (Or as close as Vulcans get to being swept of their feet.) What happens when the human in question is almost as reserved as the Vulcan? T'Pol and Reed, trapped together alone on a deserted planet with no hope of rescue. How do they cope? CastawaysMalcolm's Farewell to Arms

Vidder: drwormMusical artist: Interpol ("Slow Hands") Pairing: Illya Kuryakin/Napoleon Vidder on LJ: drwormVidder's website: His Youtube AccountWhy this vid kicks ass: drworm gives the series a sharp, modern edge by pairing a decidedly contemporary song with an intriguing balance of heavy action and quirkily humorous clips. I'm normally not that into this sort of music, but drworm really makes it work and keeps the show feeling as fresh as ever. killer for hire you know not yourself
