“Candlelight” is a desperately bleak AU where romance is a traitor to survival, and where Deanna Troi sets out to seduce not so much a live man, but a dead way of life. The chilling details of Marsden’s report from the of the end of the world and her strong characterizations (her Riker is particularly good) are my favourite things about this fic.

Why this must be read: This is one of favourite het fics in the highlander fandom, (I'm rather surprised it hasn't been recced here before). A newly immortal Nick Wolfe has been drinking himself into oblivion until he finds Amanda gone and two strange immortals at her apartment. From here we have a wonderful tale of a reluctant Nick being taken under the wing of an immortal called Jehanne and by extension her annoyed lover Adam Benoit (Methos of course). There are evil immortals, missing swords, immortal training and a wonderfully written OFC.

Why this must be read: Well, this story begins a little after Starsky recovers from Gunther's attack. When everything was looking up, and he was back on duty, he got bite by a monkey. Yes! Only Starsky! But the thing is, the poor animal was sick, and some weeks later, Starsky collapse. When we are introduced into the story, Starsky is waking-up after 2 month between life and death. And, all that time, Hutch has been sat there, without hope, as doctors had told him there were none to hold on.
Later, he discovers Hutch's has been in leave without pay for all this time. Hutch has cashed his trust fund, and now is in possession of some serious money.
Before to be released, Starsky is told he is not cured, as the virus is still in him, and it would be a good idea to think about change his line of work. And, surprisingly, Starsk is not really upset about this.
He and Hutch decide is time to think about their future, about what they want to do with their lives, and they had Hutch's money to back-up any decision they arrive. So, they travel.
And this travel is also a discovery journey: about what they are to each other, about how they really feel about each other, about what they want to do the rest of their lives.
It's such a great, sweet, and hot story! But, there are something you, maybe, must be warned about, even as I'm a little wary about it, because it could spoil the story. So, I'm gonna do with a spoiler format, but I can say outright: this is not a death story, is not an mpreg story, and is not a kid!fic. What you are gonna find here .
