Sorry I've been gone a little while - school got in the way.
Fandom: GLEE Pairing: Gen, unrequited Kurt Hummel/Finn Hudson Length: 3600 Author on LJ: eldee Author Website: Why this must be read: It's a simple and sweet story about Finn and Kurt becoming step-brothers and how Kurt handles that. I love the sense of family in this, how they all come together. It's a very unique little piece and absolutely lovely. ( Excerpt ) In All Honesty

Fandom: GLEE Pairing: Noah "Puck" Puckerman/Rachel Berry Length: 29,778 Author on LJ: Not applicable Author Website: On Fanfiction.net Why this must be read: This has me cracking up every time I read it! All the character's voices are spot on and the plot feels true to the show. And I kinda love any fic that centers around Puck's relationship to his family - I guess I'm on a family kick today^^ Do go read if you're looking for a really good Puckelberry fic. Fandom: GLEE Pairing: Kurt Hummel/Noah "Puck" Puckerman Length: 3,027 Author on LJ: mundaneone Author Website: Fic List Why this must be read: It's Finn teaching Puck how to date Kurt, what's not to love? It's just very sweet to get an outside perspective on Puck fumbling through falling in love and how to deal with that, and it's great to see a Finn who may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but who really gets his friend and knows how to help him. And I really love the way Puck's in love, it's enough to make you swoon. ( Excerpt ) Denial Isn’t Just a River in Egypt

Fandom: Alias Smith and Jones Pairing: Hannibal Heyes / Kid Curry Length: 6,079 words Author on LJ: cjeah Author Website: unknown Why this must be read: This is an established relationship story with plenty of hurt/comfort, angst with an added dash of discipline in the form of a well-delivered spanking. Corijea's well-written story has a nice set-up and strong character moments. Her interpretation of Kid Curry is especially strong; making, for me, the story all that more believable. If the discipline aspect squicks you out, I can assure you that when it's all said and done this tale is about the love and respect that these two men have for one another. A Lesson Learned

Fandom: LOST Characters/Pairing: Kate and Sayid Length: 1793 words Author on LJ: toestastegood Author Website: fic_flail Why this must be read: I think this is one of the best duos on the whole show and they bring out the best in each other---they are fierce and free of the drama that comes from their other romantic entanglements. This story, which takes place during the time when everyone was suspicious of Juliet's intrusion in their camp, shows that really well; they're such good partners and confidantes. The story sticks to canon (meaning, it doesn't put them together or anything) but just like on the show, you come away with the feeling of an opportunity lost, because this pairing would have been amazing. Toestastegood has done a perfect characterization of both of them. Excerpt: "I'm not trying to 'deal' with anything."
Sayid reasons, after she's left, that that is precisely her problem.A Volatile Combination

Fandom: EUREKA Pairing: Gen Length: 2,600 words Author on LJ: mtgatAuthor Website: Idylls of the WizardWhy this must be read: I love "five things" stories, in general, and I adore how these "reports" become increasingly ridiculous--meaning they are perfectly in tune with the show. The potential alternate universes (and reactions to them) are fantastic. I also liked the hints of crossovers where it would give away too much to reveal the fandoms, where the reader finds herself thinking, "Yes, of course. If anyone would know [crossover character], it *would* be Henry." Plus, a musical, with extra-special meta provided by Fargo. Be sure not to skim over the codenames of each project report, as they are just the icing on the crack-flavored cake! Five, er, Six Reports Nathan Stark Wishes Never Crossed His DeskAlso recorded as a podfic, which may be helpful for those unfamiliar with the musical references. - Music: Butterfly Boucher - To Feel Love | Powered by Last.fm

I'm going to be doing a/u recs for this week. Most of the a/us in the Entourage fandom are of the 'what if you turned left instead of right' type. They pretty much stick to the canon of the show with small changes here and there. Not that there's anything wrong with that. This week though, I'll be reccing stories where the changes are significant in some way--some of the 'what if' variety that set the guys on a different course and the delightful few that take the characters into a completely different life. Fandom: ENTOURAGE Pairing: Vince/Eric Length: under 12k-one shot Author on LJ: ebcdic Author Website: The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul Why this must be read: Because really the Entourage gang was made to be mobbed up, and this story does it in a dark, heartbreaking, yet completely awesome way. If you squint, yeah, they could be these guys. Vince wants to scream or cry or punch something. He wants to storm back into the house and demand that Eric tell him the truth. He wants to pretend like Special Agent Gold never walked into his life because he's never so clearly been given the choice of betraying Eric or risking losing his life. Fandom: PRIMEVAL Pairing: Gen with hints of pre-slash for Connor, Nick and Stephen Length: 3050 Author on LJ: entangled_nowAuthor Website: Fic LJ at libraryofsolWhy this must be read:There seems to be a feeling in Primeval fandom that you can never have too many shower scenes *g*. And that's certainly true – particularly when it comes to stories such as Room Service. It probably counts as pre-slash in that there are three yummy men in a shower together, but the story itself is a masterpiece of exploding bugs, witty lines and sparky dialogue. And Corona has Connor and his runaway mouth nailed perfectly! Room Service

Fandom: FOREVER KNIGHT Pairing: gen, Nick/Janette, Nick/Natalie Length: 5188 words Author on LJ: not applicable Author Website: Eve's "Forever Knight" Fan FictionWhy this must be read: The Nick and LaCroix dynamic on Forever Knight is one of the series' most interesting and intriguing relationships. Many a fanfic have been written about these two, whether it be a look at the father/son dynamic, the antagonis/hero, or the teacher/pupil, to name just a few. What makes this LaCroix POV story so appealing is that it fills in the blanks of Nick, Janette and LaCroix's travels through the centuries. It depicts instances in their history in which Nick and LaCroix weren't entirely antagonistic but enjoyed and grew from each others company. It also paints a wonderful portrait of Nick, the person, and why his character is so appealing. Shades of Nick's romantic relationships over the years are also touched upon, with special care given to the show's two main female characters. Nick and Janette are two young vampires in love who bring out the best in each other and Nick and Natalie are a headstrong and idealistic pair. A fair warning: the story references events from the series finale and offers a scenario on how those events played out years later. ( Excerpt )My Daughter's Choice by Eve
