09:46 am Quiet, He'll Hear You by Dryad (R)
Hi! I'm Wendy and I'll be your driver for The X-Files this month. I am a gen person and a Scullyist. While I don't ship pairings in the conventional sense, I will read them, though I might fast-forward through the sex scenes. My holy grail is a story with a carefully crafted plot, which contains both humorous and serious moments, is handled realistically, and respects the characters and the canon relationships (or lack of them).

Fandom: THE X-FILES
Pairing: none
Length: 27K
Author on LJ: n/a
Author Website: Author's Page at Gossamer
Why this must be read: I love stories that use the third person limited point of view. Dryad uses this technique to devastating effect to tell the story of Tamar Davies, who was kidnapped as a young child, along with her mother, by a serial killer. She did what she had to do to stay alive.

Since Dryad chose not to warn, the R rating is mine.
Warning: (skip) Contains scenes of graphic violence, child abuse and rape.

11:34 am Heart of Gold by Bellonablack (Pg-13ish)
Hello everyone. I'm Katie/[livejournal.com profile] superkappa and I'll be running the crack van for Heroes this month. What does this mean? Well, Sylar/Elle is my OTP of the series, and Elle is my favorite character, so you'll see a lot of stories fixating on them. I also love Claire/Gretchen and things involving the females of the series, so you'll probably see some of that as well. I'll try to mix it up.

Fandom: HEROES
Pairing: Sylar/Elle
Length: One Shot
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] bellonablack
Author Website: [livejournal.com profile] cross_rubicon
Why this must be read:

In most of the AUs I see where Elle is still alive, people gloss over the fact that Sylar is immortal now...and Elle is not. This is the only fic I've ever seen really address the issue that she would grow old and die, and he wouldn't. I was the one who requested this at a fic fest, but that's not why I'm reccing it.

The author really doesn't shy away from the depressing and dark nature of growing old, immortality, and the selfishness of love. Sylar's actions are not always sympathetic as he tries to keep Elle with them but they are very human. The ending is rather killer, and this fic will always have a special place in my heart because I'm pretty sure this is when I first bell in love with [livejournal.com profile] bellonablack's writing. The love affair has been going ever since though.

Hi there! I've finished my month of reccing Firefly, and this month will be driving the van for Magnificent Seven. I like a good mix of fics; het, slash and gen and hopefully will bring you some new and interesting stories.

Fandom: Magnificent Seven
Pairing: Chris, Ezra
Length: 4000 (approximately)
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kaethe
Author's website: Katie's fan fiction library
Why this must be read: When the banker suspects his gold shipment may be hijacked, Ezra comes up with a plan. Of course, although the plan works, it's only after a fashion, and Chris and Ezra must fight the bad guys.

The author provides us with a good mixture of action and hurt/comfort and does a good job of showing us how well Chris and Ezra can work together. I particularly like the ending and the little glimpses of the rest of the Seven and enjoy the off-scene antics of Buck and JD.

Hi, I'm [livejournal.com profile] jean_geanie, I'll be driving Life On Mars for this month.

Fandom: LIFE ON MARS
Pairing: Sam/Gene
Length: 8600 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] kiwi_from_hell
Author Website: list of authors life on mars fic

Why this must be read:

It's a beautifully written story that weaves together the present and past to create a richly detailed exploration of Gene, Sam and the relationship between them.

Oh and did I mention this story is written around the premise that Gene is from the future?

With that twist in mind, the plot is absorbing and the characterisations and dialogue are truly impeccable.

Perfectly executed and definitely worth reading.
