04:20 pm Rise by Kawcrow (PG-13)
Fandom: BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
Pairing: Gen; Spike
Length: ~1,000
Author on LJ: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Author Website: 'my fic' tag
Why this must be read:

I love outsider point-of-views, and this piece looks at Spike as the demons and vampires around Sunnydale see him. He doesn't have a soul, but the changes that they see in him terrify the rest of the undead as they don't know exactly what to make of it.

He passes them on the street, and they keep their heads down, faces turned to the wall. They remember when he didn’t buy cigarettes at all, when shoplifting was just another trick to play before he ripped open the store clerk's throat. They remember, and their eyes slide over and through him. They're angry, maybe. Wistful. They're almost certain.

Fandom: DUE SOUTH
Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski
Length: 6735 words

Why this must be read:

I’m taking a detour off the comm path to rec this fantastic story. It’s heartbreaking, but hopeful. There’s a major character death that happens prior to the story, but this is due South – is death really the end?

Gorgeously painful in spots, and terrifically characterized throughout, I’ve read this story more times than I can count. I was shocked that it hadn’t been recced before, and am mightily pleased to rec it now.

and so it begins… )

08:50 pm Running Up Eight & Eighty by Ryuuza Kochou, PG-13
So, I'm about a week late and I deeply apologize about that! I've been busy with a personal project and haven't had much time for lj and just finally noticed that I got tagged to drive The A-Team Van!

I'd ask BA to give me the keys, but you really don't want to mess with BA and his Van. :D So I'll just sit in the Van as a passenger.

It's been a couple of years since this fandom was rec'd and I'd like to get things started with a quick fandom overview posted by the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] laceymcbain that she wrote up a long time ago and a Murdock far away.

The A-Team Fandom Overview - Please be aware this only covers the tv verse and not the movie verse

Now! Onto the fic!

Fandom: THE A-TEAM, MOVIE VERSE
Pairing: No Pairing, but mostly a Team Centric Fic
Length: 7,500 Words
Author on LJ: No LJ
Author Website: Author Profile on FF.net
Why this must be read: It is a movie verse fic, but it was also one of the first few Movie verse fics I read about The A-Team Movie and it caught me up completely into it. I believed it all! The characterizations are amazing and it shows the team bonding after they escape from Mexico in the first 10-20 minutes of the film. They're all testing the waters of who each other are and what they can do, but you can see The A-Team in them, just very new.

The fic opens up with Hannibal defending his actions on picking these three men for his Alpha Response Unit, when he could have anyone he wants from a very long list. While the defending is going on, Face, BA and Murdock are under guard, bored and decide they need something to eat, it only acclerates from there with much anticipated glee in wondering what the boys are going to do.

I won't spoil the fic too much, but it's definately worth a read and a re-read, especially near the end.

09:17 pm The Care and Feeding of Tiny Humans (and slightly larger Time Lords) by Netgirl_y2k (G)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Eleven, Amelia Pond, Sarah Jane Smith (briefly),
Length:  1100 words
Author on LJ: [personal profile] netgirl_y2k
Author Website:  Dreamwidth, AO3
Why this must be read:

This is the most hysterically funny fic I've ever read, in any fandom. And it's not crack. It is, in fact, an AU that almost happened.

In the Eleventh Doctor's first episode at the beginning of this season, the Doctor (who has just regenerated) meets a very brave seven-year-old girl named Amelia Pond. The Doctor offered to take her with him as his traveling companion through time and space (as he does), but first he had to fix his TARDIS by taking it on a short hop through time, promising he'd be back in five minutes. Being typically careless about such things, in the episode he arrived ... later. Much later. And so we have grown-up companion Amy Pond instead of little Amelia.

But what if he hadn't overshot the mark? Amelia's younger than any of his previous companions, but she wouldn't be the first child. And she and the Doctor had such great chemistry. Told in a series of snapshots, this is a note-perfect (and perfectly characterized) view of what might have been.
