01:34 am VID REC: MAN FROM UNCLE - Hey Big Spender
It's Friday! Yay! AND it's the last Friday of the month, you know what that means! Drive in Movies! Or, well, a video rec in any case.
*passes out popcorn*

Musical Artist: Peggy Lee
Pairing: Illya, Napoleon

Why this vid kicks ass: And it does! Kick ass that is. The clips in this video are very well chosen and well put together, I swear that Napoleon is tapping time with the music when he's standing in his tux behind that tree branch, you'll know what I mean when you watch it. *sigh* There is a LOT to love about this "Love Affair", holster porn, tuxes, cameo appearance by a surprise guest, looks, tuxes, toasts, rolling eyes and shrugs, tuxes, oh wait I said that didn't I? Did I mention holsters? It is smooth, like Peggy's voice, and clever and utterly enjoyable. And could there be a more perfect song choice when one has Napoleon in a video? Surely not. Did I mention Illya with the holster already? *guh* Now, how to convince our cousin to make more like this...

11:33 am VID REC: GOOD OMENS - How Far We've Come (R)
Vidder: Rellie47
Musical artist: Matchbox 20
Pairing: Aziraphale/Crowley
Vidder on LJ: unknown
Vidder's website: YouTube Channel
Why this vid kicks ass: You're probably asking yourself: "How can you have a video for a literary fandom that has no movie or TV show to draw images from?" Well, that's the beauty of GO fandom. There are so many talented artists out there, and this video showcases some of that art; the images aren't just static either--there's an interesting amount of movement in this video. You get various representations of Aziraphale, Crowley, the Four Horsemen, and Them. I don't know the source of all the illustrations, but some of them are breath-taking. The one with Crowley in the top hat, holding the pocket watch (@ 1:28)? That makes me want to write fic just for that image! So, GO, watch, and be inspired (puns may be intended).

11:56 am VID REC: GOOD OMENS - End Title Sequence
Vidder: baroqu3
Musical artist: Eagles of Death Metal
Pairing: none
Vidder on LJ: unknown
Vidder's website: YouTube Channel
Why this vid kicks ass: People have been debating for years what a Good Omens movie would look like. This may be as close as we're going to get.

What this vidder has done is given us a beautifully realized end title sequence for the non-existent film, complete with casting choices for all the major characters. While I might argue with the choices for Aziraphale and Crowley, I can complete get behind casting Cillian Murphy as Famine. *g*

(My choices? At this moment, I think Paul Bettany would do justice to Aziraphale, and I actually think Benedict Cumberbatch (the new Sherlock) could do a respectable Crowley. After all, half the fun is figuring out who you'd cast!)

03:57 pm VID REC: MERLIN - Handlebars
Vidder: such_heights
Musical artist: Flobots
Pairing: Gen; Ensemble
Vidder on LJ: [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com]
Vidder's website: Fanworks Masterlist
Why this vid kicks ass:

Because it explores some of the more darker aspects of Merlin and magic. This fanvid gets more and more disturbing as it shows just how easy the corruption of Arthur and Merlin could possibly be as the once pristine promise of Camelot turns into something much more sinister.

Why this vid kicks ass:

This fanvid is just so wonderfully creepy, from the song to the clip selection, it's a very twisted lullaby and great tribute to Season 1 Heroes.

06:32 pm VID REC: The Sentinel – The Case of the Birthday Present (KF)

[livejournal.com profile] georgiamagnolia , the Man from U.N.C.L.E driver, already supplied me with popcorn so I’m ready to go! Happy Friday campers.

Vidder:
Banbury McBurg
Musical artist: Paul McCartney and Marilyn Monroe
Pairing: none
Vidder on LJ: banbury [livejournal.com profile] banbury
Vidder’s Website: on LJ and at Artifact Storage Room 3 and on YouTube

Why this vid kicks ass:
This is a clever tribute to one of our newest archives using a fun and appropriate tune. For my family, August has always been the birthday month – four birthdays, two of them (my grandmother and sister) are on the same day. So when I saw this vid done in honor of the first “birthday” of Artifact Storage Room 3, it just seemed a natural rec.

Fun and bouncy in keeping with the song and the sentiment, the vid’s plot is as flimsy as tissue paper (but solid on the eye candy). Blair has written a fic for Jim and is letting him know where he can find it and more great stories.

ASR3 is now two and also celebrated another milestone – over 1000 pieces of fanwork housed there now.   So watch Banbury’s cool vid and also check out her stories and the others at the two years’ new ASR3.
