Why this must be read:

Gerard and Mikey and Gabe back in Jersey before MCR began.

This is a gorgeous story with a quiet and thoughtful mood and excellent pacing. I absolutely love this Gerard - the way he translates his fascination with Gabe into a comic, his uncertainties, and his absolute trust in Mikey - and this Gabe - it's the first time I've really realised how much younger he is than Gerard and what that would have meant back then. The ending feels just right in the the way it seems to hint at new possibilities opening up.

07:44 am Bitter Betrayal, Sweet Surrender by Buffybot76 (NC-17)

Fandom:  RUROUNI KENSHIN
Pairing:  Saitou/Misao
Length:  18k
Author on LJ:  [livejournal.com profile] buffybot76
Author website:  MediaMiner.org
Why this is a must read:

It's a blanket scenario fic!  What's not to love?  Also, this is a rare pairing that at first I didn't think I'd like, but [livejournal.com profile] buffybot76  brought it all together very nicely.  Misao pushes Saitou's buttons nicely and Saitou, sexy, sadistic bastard that he is, stays in character right down to his trademark smirk.

Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gibbs/DiNozzo
Length: 1,741 words
Author on LJ:  [livejournal.com profile] lyndasty
Author Website:  None that I know of
Why this must be read: Total and utter PWP with one of the hottest scenes I've read in a long time. (With added kink bonus: it takes place under Gibbs' boat. *fans self*)  It's one of those stories that you read and then later you realize you've scooted closer to your monitor and your mouth was open just a little bit as you were reading because it's just so jawdroppingly amazing. No teasers this time around. Tony goes on instinct and you should too. I recommend that if a cold shower isn't an option, you should have a glass of ice water handy because after you read this you're gonna need to cool yourself down.

Pairing: Rupert Giles/Anya Jenkins
Length: about 900 words

Author Website: Fic on LJ

Why this must be read: Because it's from the viewpoint of Xander. It's not your typical shippy fic, it's told from the outside looking in. I love that Xander here is very mature about Anya being with someone who's not him. It's a really wonderful little vinette. And remember to give some feedback to author!

Why this must be read:

In the pilot, Peter tells Neal, “You’re a consultant, and I own you for four years.” Legally, of course, it’s a little more complicated than that, as the author (a real-life lawyer, according to the story notes) shows in this missing scene from season 1:
“Sir,” Neal knew this wasn’t the moment to show disrespect. “You’re saying that if I don’t file FBI paperwork properly, you’ll immediately send me back to jail? That seems a little harsh.”

“Neal…” Peter’s voice had a wealth of warning in it.

“What are you getting at, Caffrey?” Hughes modified his tone, but he wasn’t backing off of his threat.

Neal opened the legal folder he had carried with him into the meeting, a folder that Peter first noticed back at Neal’s apartment last night. It was a nice, sturdy folder, with no identifiable markings on it, definitely not an item that came from the FBI storeroom (which would have had an FBI seal on it). It was the type of folder that high-priced lawyers used.

Morrissey v Brewer, 408 U.S. 471, 1972.” Neal offered no additional information. He fully expected both men, who probably had at least 40 years combined experience in the criminal justice system to know precisely what he was talking about. This felt good, like he was in an episode of Law & Order and just blindsided the DA with some obscure ruling.

03:23 pm The Deathless by stellar_dust (PG-13)
Fandom: DOCTOR WHO
Pairing: Jack Harkness/The Master, Doctor/Master implied
Length: 3444 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] stellar_dust
Author Website: stellar_dust's website or Doctor Who works at Teaspoon
Why this must be read:

An odd little mystery story, or rather an answer to a major mystery about the Master's background that's slowly revealed, as filtered through Jack Harkness's eyes. Slogging his way through the end of the Victorian era, pre-Torchwood Jack watches and unknowingly intrudes upon a game between a Time Lord he hasn't met yet and the one they've both been waiting for.

The summer of 1895, Jack's main (in point of fact, only) competition on the unkillables circuit went by the imposing name of Koshey the Deathless. )

It's a dark, subtle little piece, full of the best, most painful kind of tragic irony.
