Fandom: RIPTIDE Pairing: Nick Ryder/Cody Allen Length: 1300 words Author on LJ: tnlAuthor Website: More fic on tnl's LJ; Here is his author tag on pier56Why this must be read: tnl explores something that is rare in the fandom but definitely suggested by canon: that Nick and Cody do in fact date girls, and that Cody, anyway, at least likes to believe that he's going to marry a girl some day. But the bond between the two of them is far too strong to really allow anyone between them for long, despite macho posturing. tnl handles it in an incredibly awesome way. It took me some time to decide which of his fics to rec, but in the end, I decided on this one, which is gently angsty and incredibly sweet. It purely describes the *pull* between these guys. They're Vietnam vets; they're a little fucked up; they like girls; but they belong to each other. This is an swesome story of the two of them on their way to working that out. Fandom: CHUCK Pairing: Casey/Chuck dubcon, Casey/OMC Length: one-shot Author on LJ: lassroyaleAuthor Website: fic listWhy this must be read: I consider lassroyale to be one of the most talented writers in this fandom. You should also check out her longer Chuck/Casey stories, which I can't rec because they're unfinished as of yet, but which are lovely. So I picked this story instead, which is dark!fic (so mind the warnings). I don't usually read dark!fic, but this one was just that good. So that should be telling you something. Casey, much more so than Sarah, has a gory past. We know that. "Chuck" usually glosses over that fact, being a comedy. This story, however, goes to the place the show won't be able to go, exploring the darker moments in Casey's past and what they might have done to him. Unable to deal with this particular trauma, Casey finds himself directing his anger towards the one person who doesn't have the good sense to get out of the way in time - Chuck. His spy life hasn't made Casey a nice and fluffy person, in both canon and fanon, and that is doubly true for this fic. And My Fury Stands Ready

Fandom: CHUCK Pairing: gen (Ellie, Chuck, Bryce) Length: ~3000 words Author on LJ: ivy03Author Website: fic listWhy this must be read: After inexplicably being expelled from Stanford for cheating, Chuck returns home, where he is awaited by one very befuddled and angry sister. So Ellie, determined to right the wrongs done to her kid brother, travels to Stanford and confronts Bryce Larkin. This story, which was written for last year's yuletide, is an Ellie POV fic that features cute kind Ellie getting kind of scary. In an Ellie sort of way. This was written before the current season, but ivy03's interpretation of Ellie was still backed up in recent episodes - as we know for sure now, you shouldn't ever piss off a Bartowski. The fic is funny and sweet and heartbreaking in turns, though I personally think the funny wins out. Because Ellie's revenge is petty, and geeky, and perfect in that. Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: John Christeson/Evan Stafford (Q-Tip) Length: ~ 11,000 words Author on LJ: marycontraireAuthor websites: Why this must be read: Rare pairing anyone? I was a bit dubious when I started to read, but that doubt was very soon washed away. Oh, I fell in love with these characters. What we see on the show is carefully expanded. It's so organic that I could this see happening. It's hard to watch them, trying to fit into a life at home. They grew up in the war and grew a little bit more afterward. Love their interaction, and their dialog. I hope you give this story a chance, because it very well deserves it. tear down the house that i grew up in (i'll never be the same again)

Fandom: Lord Peter Wimsey Pairing: Harriet/Peter Length: 878 words Author on LJ: executrix Why this must be read: I enjoy any well-written Wimseyfic, but I must admit that if I have an OTP, it’s Peter/Harriet. This delightful piece by executrix is set in an early stage in their relationship, as they are both feeling their way into whatever it will become. The romance is charming, and the period detail is entrancing and essential (and even educational), giving it a wonderfully precise sense of time and place. The Peter's POV narrative has a wonderfully in-character and humorous voice - a difficult task pulled off with aplomb. "That was fascinating!" Harriet said. "I almost wish I wrote the Jules Verne sort of romance, so I could have a book on the stalls by the New Year, set on the new planet."
"If it had inhabitants, I'm sure they'd be after murderin' each other to the great advantage of your bank balance," Peter said. "It doesn't say much for the Man in the Street that the lecturer had to break it all down into words of one syllable."
"I was grateful," Harriet said. "Although it made me aware that, like Sherlock Holmes of blessed memory, my astronomical knowledge is…a trifle weak."Read it here.

Fandom: The Losers Pairing: Everyone/Everyone (or, officially, Jensen/Cougar/Pooch/Clay/Aisha) Length: 1264 Author on LJ: storm_petrelAuthor's Website: AO3Why this must be read:As requested on thelosers_kink: "From the same arms dealers that brought you environmentally-friendly nukes, the latest in non-lethal chemical weapons: sex pollen!" The old clichés are totally the best, and Storm Petrel proves it with this short piece of burning flashpaper hotness - a quick bang, the hint of smoke and you're gone. Ridiculously hot sex, hilarious epilogue and delightfully in-character for something so short and so without plot, this is one of the best kink meme fills ever. Excerpt: They’ve been at it for what seems like hours, and Jensen’s starting to shake, every muscle in his body humming taut like a live wire. Cougar hauls him back against his chest, their skin slick together, his dark hair loose with a few strands clinging damply to Jensen’s cheekbone. Jensen moans, and he sounds like bad porn, and he’d be dying of embarrassment if he wasn’t so hot right now, so painfully turned on. That Sex Pollen Story

Fandom: WAREHOUSE 13 Length: 7396 in two parts Pairings: Benedict Valda along with the rest of the warehouse crew. Authoron LiveJournal: physicslinguistWhy this must be read:Because it's all about Benedict Valda of course! And considering how much of him we see on the show, we really don't know all that much about him. He's British, short, and sexy. That's about it really. He's practically crying out for further character development. Physicslinguist has written an excellent take on his background and really fleshed out Valda's character. "Seventeen-year-old Benedict Valda sat contemplating his computer screen. On it, dialog box waiting for the ‘Enter’ key, was the letter of declination he’d been about to print when his father called him downstairs. He’d gotten his acceptance letter from the American-based University of Chicago earlier in the week, and he had intended to decline in favor of Oxford, full scholarship or not. But after that conversation, he was seriously reconsidering attending out of the country." More Hands On by Physicslinguist
