Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: ~14.800 Author on LJ: solosundance/ solosundance Author Website: AO3; The Automated Hatstand; The Professionals Circuit Archive Why this must be read: This is an aftermath to JoJo's story Today's Lessons, but you don't need to have read it first to understand this one. At the beginning of the story, we'll find Bodie physical and psychologically damaged, after a brutal torture. He and Doyle had been working in their incipient relationship, but now, Bodie is living in his own personal Inferno, and can't deal with Ray, relationships or anything at all, actually. Jojo manage to keep us on the edge, as we are take along with Bodie's attempts to recovery, Doyle's need for revenge, both men pain at what they believe is the end of their story together before it really began... Look here to see a little bit of this story. When he’d first came to after the self-imposed skull fracture Bodie had been well aware he was in hospital care. The sounds, the smells, even the heat, all convinced him of that. Back in the basement he thought he might have fantasized once or twice about being in a bed. A big, low bed under a window with a gauzy curtain draped over it, just obscuring a sky that wasn’t in England, the sound of the breeze moving through oversized leaves in the trees right outside. A big, low bed with a single rumpled sheet laying over his torso and a hand laying lightly on his breastbone.
What he woke to was a thin, high bed within windowless walls, sheets tucked around him, voices distorted by the unkind acoustics of empty-bellied corridors, the sharp crackle of a needle on his skin.
Not worth waking up to.
“We need you to open your eyes for us, Mr. Bodie... Mr. Bo... William... Will... open your eyes for us... no, still not responsive... very wayward stats... page Dr. Roberts would you please? Will? Will? Can you open your eyes?”
When Bodie finally decided to let the world in, and it was Doyle he saw, within reach, he was appalled. It had to mean something. If it didn’t he knew he might as well die right there and then. For about an hour, lying there awake knowing he had been scraped bare of every shred of dignity and means of self-defence, with Doyle sitting there looking at him like that, he was only interested in turning his former world upside down and retiring behind the gauzy curtain.
But a sickly sense of real life came creeping through the haze soon enough. He couldn’t be sure, because of the drugs, if Doyle ever had actually held his hand and muttered half-arsed platitudes, if he’d ever stroked his head, for crying out loud, told him to sleep, begged him to wake up, demanded that he stop fucking around and get better. Even now, Bodie went from being convinced of the fact that Doyle, just by being, would make everything alright, to seriously doubting that there had ever been anything between them at all. This is a Big Bang story, so I choose to link to the story announce at JoJo's place; this way, you'll be able to get all the amazing extras. So go here, and read Touch Sensitive, and let JoJo know what a great story is this one.

Fandom: LIFE ON MARS UK Pairing: Gen Length: 1337 words. Author on LJ: dakfinvAuthor Website: Dakfinv's Life on Mars Fic Masterlist. Why this must be read: This is a fabulous timey-wimey story in which there is a protective Gene Hunt, a reckless and young Sam Tyler and in the midst of that a rather touching friendship. Dakfinv captures both characters so well. I'm especially fond of Sam's voice once he's drunk. ( Excerpt )Returning the Favor

Fandom: The X-Files Pairing: Mulder/Scully Length: Vignette Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: The Reign RoomWhy this must be read:
This is a delightful post- One Breath story that allows the reader a look inside Mulder's head after Scully's return post-abduction. There is undoubtedly some angst, but also some hope and playfulness as well. You will enjoy the banter of the scene by the pool and "Fox Mulder- Jewelry Detective." The humor in this story is spot-on and the characters brought to life so vividly. This is the best season 2 story I have ever read because it shows how Mulder's life irrevocably changed when Dana Scully entered it. You get the sense he didn't plan for it, or anticipate it, but it happened nevertheless. And somehow, he is a better man because of it. Cannibals and Chlorine: A Love Story

Fandom: WB/CW RPS Pairing: Jensen/Jared Length: 80,000 words Author on LJ: tigbitAuthor Website: tigbit’s "my fic" tag on LJ Why this must be read:I am fascinated by the Afterlife, and have been forever (my poor mom had to deal with me reading about mummification when I was 7 or 8 years old). This fic gives us a very interesting view of Heaven and Hell and how it all works. I was trying to figure out how to describe this wonderful story, but the author says it best. Here’s their summary: In which Jared manages real estate in Heaven and Jensen works as Hell’s attorney in Death Trials. Extreme ambiguity and a distinct lack of beer push Jared to accept a different kind of job in a hotter, more southern locale. The boys meet. Hi-jinks and grocery-stealing in Hell ensue. Featuring saints on book tours, love on trial, after-life bureaucracy, and sin. Surprisingly not as cracktastic as it sounds. And it really, really isn’t cracktastic. But it is funny and sad and angsty and full of love and utterly terrific. Reanimated

Fandom: PSYCH Pairing: Shawn Spencer/Carlton Lassiter Length: 15,660 words Author on LJ: deltacepheiAuthor Website: deltacephei on AO3Why this must be read: Shawn and Lassie spend a few hours together. A motorcycle ride, coffee with sprinkles, a few rounds of "Truth or Truth"... sometimes relationships can start in the strangest ways. After the events of "Tuesday the 17th", Shawn can't sleep. He finds himself on the pier, drinking, thinking, watching the sunrise. As luck would have it Lassie can't sleep, either, and a late-night stroll has led him to the pier. It's a welcome distraction for Shawn - less so for Lassie, who just wants to deliver Shawn home and get home himself. But even as they leave the pier, the morning moves along with them still in each other's company. Perfect voices here, and while the humor is absolutely "Psych"-like, there's a bit of a serious tone that serves to make everything feel more real. And the chemistry between Shawn and Lassiter is fantastic. This is a great read to escape with at the end of a long day. The Road to Tikihama

Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Donna /Lee Length: 611 Author Website:A Teaspoon and an Open Mind. Why this must be read:Another fix it for Donna! This time it's covering up that horrible plot failure in the ' Forest of the Dead'. Poor Lee. They just ditched him in the library. I'm pretty sure most of us were expecting him to show up again later. Sadly though they just ignored the happy ending that could of been. Darn eh? Alligatorade has written a delightfully determined Lee and a scarily in character Donna. The only thing that would make this better would be a sequel or two. "Lee asked questions. It took a long time; questions cost money, and money was something Lee didn’t have. He took odd jobs, socked it all away, paid private investigators and database crackers to ask questions for him. It took 1700 credits and a datavised inquiry into the Encyclopaedia Humanae (the most complete collection of information that had been assembled about human life on every settled world, moon, and asteroid) before he finally found what he was looking for."
