Why this must be read:

One of the favorite Highlander commonalities out there is to make Methos, in his Adam Pierson or other guise, a professor of some sort. It is an easy profession to give him while all the other exciting Highlander-world stuff goes on.

This short, introspective, encompassing piece takes it so, so much deeper than that.

Fandom: THE SENTINEL
Pairing: Jim/Blair
Length: 10K

Author Website: It’s a Dirty Story site  and  at the AO3 archive

Why this must be read:
It’s another favorite genre of mine: Can Sentinel!Jim survive on his own without Blair? I think he could – I just don’t think he’d do as well. Or have any fun!

It’s immediately post-series and Blair is going to attend the Police Academy for four weeks. Four weeks that he is sure Jim will not be able to handle without problems. Simon is waffling on the subject, but Jim is offended. However, Jim *does* seem to be having some difficulties – his senses are, for lack of a better word, wonky:

Check out poor Jim!  )
Meantime, discovering that Blair is finding his time at the academy “fun” is increasing his exasperation. Will he be able to survive without his guide? Read this to find out.

Donna wrote a handful of TS stories in 2000-2001, and most of them run to heavy angst. “I’m Not Saying” has been recommended previously, and is a wonderfully realistic treatment of the dissertation issue post “Night Shift”. This one is quite a bit lighter. Enjoy.

Why this must be read:

Author’s summary: One of these days, whatever's going on, something's going to push Sam over the edge.

I love this look at Sam “quietly losing his mind.” Here, it’s not 1973 per se that’s getting to him— it’s that 1973 is so normal. This is a short little thing, but it still hits all the creepy buttons and leaves us with a deliciously uncertain ending.
