Fandom: THE PROFESSIONALS Pairing: Bodie/Doyle Length: 149,447 words Author on LJ: gideonbd77Author Website: Gideon on Archive of Our Own, Gideon on The Automated HatstandWhy this must be read:The premise of this story is simple: Doyle loves Bodie but Bodie is oblivious, or so Doyle believes. When Bodie is seriously hurt, Doyle devotes himself to Bodie's recovery. While the plot is simple, the writing elevates this plot to a really good story. This writer has such a great way with words. I want to read on and even though this is a very long story (yay!), it's still not enough. I think her Bodie and Doyle are great characters. I can see everything she writes unfolding before my eyes, something that is a testament to Gideon. I'm a reader who has to see and hear the story to like it, and to find one that I love is a real treat. I also like how she wove bits of canon into the story so seemlessly that if you didn't know better, you'd think what she's written has part of the actual episode. Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Doctor/Master Length: 5,622 words Author on LJ: x_losAuthor Website: x_losfic, Master Fic PostWhy this must be read:It was really hard for me to choose which story by this author I wanted to recommend, and in the end it came down to Intoxication, which is funny and sweet, and The Final Game, which is dark and brilliant. I went with funny and sweet because of the Rani, really, as she is just so perfect in this, but do check out the author's other stories! This is the story of Koschei's cunning plan to bring him together with his (kind of stupid) soul mate, Theta, through the use of lots and lots of alcohol. Ushas, their long-suffering friend, just wants to study. This one is lots of fun, folks, do go check it out! Intoxication by x_los

Fandom: Stargate: Atlantis Pairing: John/Rodney, John/OFC Length: ~29,600 Author on LJ: dancinbutterfly Author Website: TagsWhen Critical Mass aired, I was really excited to see the Goa'uld in Pegasus. But the episode, besides Cadman and her tap-dancing bomb-making skills, was rather anti-climactic for me. This story is everything I wished that episode had been. The author is particularly good at emphasizing how trapped John feels, his pain and horror at what the Goa'uld is doing that he can't stop. dancinbutterfly ties in canon lines and scenes seamlessly. The snark is brilliant, the horror palpable, and the reactions once John is free are realistic. I particularly like the characterization of Heightmeyer. A tense, angsty fic, that ends on a hopeful note. ( Mini-Teaser )Invisible Prisoner

Fandom: A-TEAM MOVIE!VERSE Pairing: fem!Face/Murdock Length: 74K Author on LJ: somewhatcliche Author Website: Somewhatcliche on LJ Why this must be read: somewhatcliche mostly writes M/F, and it’s all very lovely. What I really love, though, are her gender-swap stories. What’s great about them is that she manages to keep the boys themselves, even as she’s making them distinctly female. It’s an extremely hard thing to do, but she pulls it off every time. It doesn't hurt that her writing style is breezy and gorgeous. Even if you don’t normally like gender!swap, I’d highly encourage you to give her stories a try. In this story, Face, aka Temperance Peck, falls in love with Chris Sosa. It’s written mainly from Murdock’s point of view, who’s desperately in love with his female teammate and wants nothing more than to see her find happiness, even though he knows that’s not going to be possible with her current boyfriend. Sad and sweet, with the right touch of the humor that characterizes the relationship between Murdock and Face in the best fics, it explores Face's relationship with Sosa from a whole different angle. Chris tells her he’ll be there when she's back in Bragg. She believes him like she's never believed anybody in her life and for three weeks she is sloppy on the field and cross-eyed behind her sniper's scope and pissing Hannibal off with her flippancy. They get the job done, though, amid hush-hush congratulations and polite slaps on the backs. Face doesn't care. She wants to see Chris again, and she isn't going to bother hiding it.
And he’s there, when she comes back, waiting with a smile from heaven and open arms. That’s when she knows she’s had it. Wrapped up in Chris, surrounded by his smell, his taste, his promises—that’s when Face knows.
From then on, Face loves him fiercely. The Girl in the War Part One The Girl in the War Part Two

Fandom: MARVEL COMICS (specifically AVENGERS/CAPTAIN AMERICA/IRON MAN) Pairing: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark Length: 29,000 words Author on LJ: tsukinofaerii (author prefers DW) Author Website: AO3 AccountWarning: None. Woohoo. Why this must be read: How far would you go to forget the worst thing that ever happened to you? If you're Tony Stark, the answer is pretty damn far. Comics Spoiler: Steve Rogers died in Civil War. Comics Spoiler: He got Better. No Spoiler at All: Tony would rather forget the whole thing ever happened. And after that whole other comics thing where he injected himself with an experimental nano-virus that turned his brain into a hard drive, he has the technology. Per Expectations
