Fandom: WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE + THE BIG BANG THEORY Pairing: Gen with hints for Penny/Leonard, Justin/Alex (but no more than in canon) Length: 3.340 words Author on LJ: misfit_fandomsAuthor Website: Ao3Why this must be read:I was unsure if I should rec this fic or the sequel but you need to read this fic to understand the other one so... let's start. First the idea of a crossover between these two shows is amazing. They are both in my Top 20 of the best tv shows and I adore all characters. The author captured their voices perfect. The same is to say about the humour of the two shows. It's a perfect combination of geeky humour with a little bit more childish jokes. Second the plot! I would never have thought of the idea to use a convention for a meeting but it fits. Also it's the perfect background for a healthy rivalry between the TBBT guys and Zeke/Justin and a friendship between Alex/Penny who bear the misery to know these guys together. *g* The fic really captured the charme of both shows so if you love TBBT or WoWP or both... then the fic is definitly worth trying out! :) The Proper Care and Keeping of Nerds (LJ), Ao3--> Alex and Penny meet at a robot competition.SEQUELA How-To Guide to Love and Marriage, for People Who Hate Both (LJ), Ao3--> When Justin went off to college, he thought he might actually be able to strike out on his own. Yeah, right. No matter where he goes, Alex is always going to rain down her own special kind of insanity on him. (Penny/Justin, Alex/Dean, Howard/Bernadette, Harper/Zeke) ~ 17.760 words

The 15th of the month is typically Crossover Day on crack_van, so for today and the next few days, expect a sampling of crossovers featuring Inception. Fandom: INCEPTION / HAWAII FIVE-0 (2010) Pairing: Arthur/Eames, Steve McGarrett/Danny Williams Length: ~ 27,000 words Author on LJ: templemarkerAuthor Website: Templemarker's Fiction ArchiveWhy this must be read: Because Arthur's from Hawaii ... which comes as a tremendous surprise to Eames. When Arthur gets a call to come home because his older brother Steve's been hurt (and is resisting staying in the hospital - how typical!), Eames offers to tag along and in doing so learns a great deal about Arthur and Arthur's terrifyingly competent (and somewhat messed-up) family. What I really like about this story is that we're shown two very different versions of Arthur: the one Eames knows in the film, and the one who's at home in Hawaii with a surfboard and wet curls and a family in law enforcement. Steve in this story is every bit the over-protective, suspicious, one-man-army (Navy!) he is in H50, and Danny's the wise-cracking voice of "stop interrogating Arthur's boyfriend!" It's by turns funny and heart-tugging, and it gives a lovely window into not only Steve and Danny's banter-driven relationship, but also that Arthur and Eames are both heavily invested in their own relationship, even if they've never articulated the fact. This take on Arthur and his family makes sense to me given the Hawaii 5-0 back story: mother killed in an "accident", father obsessed with a case and murdered by a criminal, the siblings sent away to become under- or over-achievers who don't play by the book, and yet can't quite escape the need to be part of something, a family. There are spot-on appearances by Kono, Chin, Grace, and a fantastic Mary McGarrett, and I think the character dialogue is terrific, especially Danny. His rants are priceless and the way he "manages" Steve is much like the show. Plus getting to see Arthur in a setting so far removed from Inception allows both Eames and the reader to get to know the character in a whole new, and completely believable, way. This should appeal to fans of either the film or the new television series and I think the writer's provided sufficient background to fill in the blanks if you're only familiar with one of the sources. Aloha! ( 'You must be Eames,' Steve said from the bed, eyes visibly narrowing even from several feet of distance. 'Lemme ask you a question--Arthur says he's in 'information distribution.' On a scale of one to bullshit, how thoroughly should I investigate your background to figure out just what the fuck you're doing with my baby brother?' )On LJ: Secretly a Reef Rat MasterPost - also available for download as a PDF It doesn't matter how old or new or (how popular) a story is, authors love feedback!

Happy Crossover Day! Fandom: Musical Theater / Rent crossover with The West Wing Pairing: Gen (background Josh/Donna) Length: One-shot Author on LJ: Unknown Author Website: At FFNWhy this must be read: Roger Davis and Josh Lyman walk into a bar. Is that not reason enough? Seriously, though, this one-shot is actually a fairly worthy look at the gap between the good-hearted, well-intentioned D.C. types (I promise, they do exist outside of fiction) and the people they mean to help but never quite do. PythonFan has an intimate knowledge of both fandoms, and it shows. Roger is right on the money here--rife with potential and apathy--and if Josh seems a little nicer than usual, we can chalk it up to the influence of his Midwestern spouse. This fic was written well before most people had heard the name Barack Obama, but the author even manages to bring the clear (and partially intentional) parallels betwene our President and Matt Santos to bear. ( Mark was out running around somewhere with his camera, trying get film of Santos for some nefarious purpose. )Reality in 21st Century Bohemia

Fandom: WIZARDS OF WAVERLY PLACE + THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES Pairing: Justin/Alex, John/Cameron Length: 22.247 words Author on LJ: nessataleweaverAuthor Website: none Why this must be read:I must admit the first time I saw the fic I didn't want to read it. Why? Simple. I know nothing about Terminator. I saw never one of these movies and I also don't know the fic but still I read the fic and wow... thank god I did this. Even if you don't know a thing about Terminator you can understand everything so that you can enjoy this amazing fic! It's one of the BigBangs for apocabigbang so be warned. The fic has major character death, mentions of violence including sexual assault and some curse words. Nevertheless it is under my Top 5 of the best WoWP fics. It has drama, angst, a little bit UST, amazing characters who learned the hard way to grow up and an amazing writing style. The development of the Justin/Alex relationship suited the tempo of the story and there is even an solution for the incest problem at the end of the fic. I must admit even if the epilogue is a little bit confusing it's one of the best apocalypse fics I ever read. (Also I adore the fanmix and the cover for the fic...). Btw, there will be more apocalypse fic recs this month. I don't know why but this is one of the favorite genres in this fandom... The Only Way Out Is Through (LJ)--> Even after their world is shattered by Judgment Day, Justin and Alex Russo find there is still magic in the world – and miracles can still happen.

Fandom: KUROSHITSUJI, JEEVES & WOOSTER Pairing: Sebastian/Ciel implied Length: 1482 words Author on LJ: atdelphiAuthor Website: Delphi at AO3Why this must be read:Because in this story Jeeves meets one hell of a butler, with subtle but life-altering consequences. You can't tell me that you don't want to be there for that. Not when the story has, as this one does, every bit of the elegance that you'd expect from these two gentlemen. It's an inspired take on two canons that are naturals for each other. At the Devil's Knee

Fandom: Wilby Wonderful x Durham County Pairing: Sadie Sweeney/Emily Anderson Length: 992 words Author on LJ: helens78Author website: AO3Why this must be read:Again I turn to helens78, but when a writer offers the whole package (excellent writing, great character development, erotica) what is one to do? This is simply a fascinating pairing, but I especially love that, although Emily is playing a submissive role, she seems incredibly empowered in this gem of a story. If You Want This Part of Me

Fandom: THE SOCIAL NETWORK/JURASSIC PARK Pairing: Mark/Eduardo Length: 25,000 words Author on LJ: princewardoWhy this must be read: Not technically a crossover so much as a Jurassic Park AU, but, whatever! It counts. Fantastically done AU, detailed and beautiful with the Fab Four (and Sean) all just as they should be in a dinosaur park. Mark makes dinosaurs, but Eduardo is slightly confused about his purpose at the park... Then Mark looks down, types a lone bracket, pauses, and clatters out a line of code. Then another, and another. His lips ease back into their perfectly straight line of absolute concentration. Chris thinks Mark is probably writing something that will turn out amazing on an unprecedented level. This is what Mark tends to do when he gets upset.
Once Eduardo went out on a date instead of attending weekly Mario Cart night, and Mark locked himself in for sixteen hours and wrote CourseMatch.
This is how they end up running an unnamed park. And why every single creature Mark manages to breathe life into lives for one reason, and one reason only – to get the attention of Eduardo Saverin.Mark has somehow managed to charm a trio of their velociraptors (Chris is frankly worried at this, and he’s made a note to himself to check on Mark’s programming for anomalies in their genetics, because nothing in his chemical work indicates that the dinosaurs in the park should be hailing Mark as a god. Plus, Eduardo has a minor coronary whenever Mark comes back from their glass pen with more than a nip to his ankles.)

A second story for Crossover Day. Fandom: KUROSHITSUJI/HELLSING Pairing: n/a Length: 879 words Author on LJ: incandescensAuthor Website: Maya's fanfic pageWhy this must be read:How often do we get a chance to rifle through the confidential files of either the Hellsing Organization or the Queen's Watchdog? An exchange of letters between Ciel Phantomhive and Integra Wingate Hellsing, regarding Ciel's employment of an individual who might be of interest to Hellsing, it's at once gloriously funny and capable of making a reader feel sorry, if briefly, for Sir Integra and Ciel both. official correspondence
