Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: Ray Person/Walt Hasser (Nate Fick/Brad Colbert implied) Length: 8097 Author on LJ: meeks00Author Website: LJ Fic and Art Masterlist, DW Fic and Art MasterlistWhy this must be read:This one's about people having special powers - and it's both hilarious and hot! meeks00 is an author with a talent for voices, and a lot of her fic not only make you laugh, it also makes you think. This is one of the lighter ones, but there's always a thread of 'What if they find out?'. In the middle of OIF, Ray starts getting visions. At first they're quite tame, but escalate rapidly to hardcore porn. Both the Ray-voice and the dialogue are excellent, and the flow is great. Hilarious fun, hot description, and it's got an excellent twist on the (very sweet) ending too! ( Excerpt... )When You're Behind That Angle

Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: Nate Fick/Brad Colbert Length:Author on LJ: lakeeffectgirlAuthor Website: lakeeffectgirl, AO3Why this must be read:(Second one for tonight because I didn't post last night - my bad.) This fic takes one of the cliches of fanfic - soul-bonding - and made it not only interesting, but fascinating and shockingly real. I've read this fic many times, and every time I've been sucked into it and haven't been able to put it down. Lake's voices for Nate and Brad are fantastic, and they're amazingly well-drawn. This fic follows them through the development of the bond, and pinpoints their character changes fantastically. The style is fantastically spare - beautifully descriptive but not overdone. This fic is quite simply a work of art, and it's beautifully done. ( Excerpt... )Apres Moi Le Deluge

Fandom: NCIS Pairing: Gibbs/Tony Length: 3,782 words Author on LJ: the_7th_swanAuthor Website: Masterlist on LJWhy this must be read: Author's Summary: In a world where the line between imagination and reality blur, Tony finds himself struggling with the fallout. Another supernatural!Tony fic, what I really like about this one is the unique supernatural trope it explores and the way that trope provides some insight into Tony's character development and his relationship with Gibbs. There is a ton of shifter wolf and precog fics out there, but this is one of only a few (the only one I can think of right now off the top of my head) seeing dead people fics. It's a talent that's both tragically heavy and yet heart-lifting-ly warm at the same time. How Swan uses it to show how Tony has developed into the independent and giving man that we know he is makes for a very engrossing read. And then there's how it's used to start his relationship with Gibbs. The acceptance that Gibbs had for Tony's talent just made me smile 'cause of how much it showed his trust for his Senior Field Agent. Even when he gets information from seemingly out of nowhere, Gibbs acts on it with total trust and faith. Then Shannon in the basement... I'm sure my eyes weren't the only damp ones after reading that; even Gibbs was a bit teary eyed. I enjoyed reading Shannon's blessing on Gibbs having a new love in his life, someone to complete him and bicker with. A story that will definitely stay with you. Just Your Imagination

Fandom: YU YU HAKUSHO Pairing: Kurama/Yusuke Length: 2100-ish Author on LJ: Unknown Stories found on: AdultFanfiction.netWhy this is a must read: Right off the bat, I have to say I'm usually not a fan of cross dressing fic. So I usually pass most of them by. The ones that do make me pause and give a second look have an unusual hook that makes me glad I'm not too stuck in my ways. Anyhoo, with Romeo and Juliet we get a few things that I love in Yu Yu Hakusho fic. Kurama being his sly, fox-demony self, Yusuke intimidating classmates at will while trying not to let his curiosity get the better of him, and humor. The way the story is written has this tongue-in-cheek kind of humor all through it and makes the whole thing a fun read. "Come by and help me run lines?" Kurama asks softly, after explaining - unnecessarily, but Yusuke's not about to tell him that - the situation with his school play. Something about a Shakespeare and teenagers and death - as if Yusuke needs to be any more familiar with that .Romeo and Juliet

Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Donna Noble/Doctor Length: 14k Author on LJ: shaggydogstailAuthor Website: shaggydogstalesWhy this must be read: This could just about be the worst idea the Doctor's ever had. If anyone can fix it, it's Donna. Fix-it fic for the S4 ending. I just love this fic to pieces. The personalities are perfect, the humor spot on, and I just adore the plot. It's brilliant from beginning to end because it soothed away the ache of how s4 ended for me. Definitely the best Donna fix-it fic I've read to date. April in My Arms( snippet )

Fandom: DOCTOR WHO Pairing: Mostly gennish, background River/Doctor Length: 6k Author on LJ: JenniferJF Author Website: AO3 linkWhy this must be read: Being a guard isn't the most glamorous job in the world. If part of your duties include watching over Cell 426, though, at least it's never boring. A fantastically hilarious look at Stormcage through the eyes of a wonderful OC, and the various outrageous shenanigans that River Song gets into. It makes for an interesting job as a prison guard. Fandom: HARRY POTTER Pairing: Ron Weasley/Hermione Granger Length: 2500 Author on LJ: mugglemamaAuthor's Website: FFN Why this must be read: This was originally written for the 2011 Canon Fest here on LJ. I laughed so much when I first read it and then I discovered that mugglemama had written it , reread it and laughed some more. When Harry Potter gets drunk, he tries to give Ron some advice about his sex-- specifically, sex with Hermione. Don't drink anything while reading. Unsolicited Advice

Fandom: BANDOM Pairing: Gerard/Spencer Length: 7,480 words Author on LJ & DW: jedusaur & jedusaurAuthor on AO3: jedusaurWhy this must be read: It's Spencer's last semester in high school and he needs a goal. When as he sees the new art teacher he knows what it's going to be. The one where Spencer puts 'Seduce Gerard Way' at the top of his goals file with graduation day as the deadline. This is such a fun story. I'm not particularly interested in the Panic guys but I really liked this sharp and snarky Spencer and the systematic way he goes about seducing Gerard. I loved seeing Gerard through his eyes, in all his excentric and charming glory, and I also loved the subtle way Spencer's growing fondness was written. The sex at the end is smokingly hot and their conversation the morning after absolutely perfect. ( Excerpt from the story... )Most Likely To Succeed (on AO3) or here (on DW) or here (on LJ)

Fandom: GENERATION KILL Pairing: Brad Colbert/Ray Person, Nate Fick/Brad Colbert/Ray Person, others Length: 98645 Author on LJ: sephirothflameAuthor Website: sf_writes, AO3Why this must be read:Every once in a while, you come across an epic that rips out your heart and spreads it all over the pavement. This fic is one of those; it's beautiful and painful and just amazing. Technically it's kinda-sorta a crossover with The Pacific and Band of Brothers, but doesn't really require any knowledge of those fandoms, and the guys can be read as OCs. Nate is the son of a Senator who owes money to the Mob; Brad and Ray are the guys who are out to collect it. Nate's in the wrong place at the wrong time, and the consequences are far beyond what they could have foreseen. The voices are great - I especially liked Brad's - and the characterisation is spot on. The scene-setting is fantastically descriptive, and you feel like you're right there. There's moments of slice-of-life, moments of humour, moments of pure sweetness, and all at the perfect points. Also, the sex scenes are totally incendiary - perfectly paced and so full of feeling - and I defy you not to blush! Be warned that the warnings at the start are very relevant; I personally had some trouble with a couple of the middle sections, but the payout is worth it. ( Excerpt... )you who are my home
