Fandom: HOUSE M.D.
Pairing: House/Wilson
Length: ~6000 words

Why this must be read:

Only a very special kind of fan could watch "The Dig," an episode that doesn't even feature James Wilson, and be inspired to write a glorious exploration of almost fifteen years of his friendship with Greg House and its eventual transition into something more. [livejournal.com profile] cellista_in_c is that kind of special. It's just too bad that we didn't get to see many more fics from this author, although she did make some wonderful contributions to the collaborative pieces on [livejournal.com profile] h_w_chainfic.

Her first major House/Wilson story, "The Lights Are Shining (Any Place But There)" features terrific in-character banter as well as evocative little details that really make the reader feel like she's right there with the two men as they tramp around muddy fairgrounds and encounter their first spud gun competition. The way that the author weaves in the unexpected events that prevent House and Wilson from pursuing their plans to win the next one together is nothing short of brilliant. And the last section is lovely and poetic and hot as hell.

Pairing: Fraser/Kowalski, past Fraser/Vecchio, Fraser/Kowalski/Vecchio
Length: 24k words

Why this must be read: This fic features what is quite possibly my most favorite post-show Ray Vecchio ever written. He's lost and alone after his marriage to Stella falls apart, so he heads north to visit Fraser and Kowalski. Vecchio knows it's going to be tricky staying in the guest room of his ex and the next guy, but this Vecchio needs a touchstone to his life before Vegas. Ray sorts out his own feelings about Fraser, realizes he has some surprising feelings about Kowalski, and eventually notices that he's not the only one in this story with a bit inner turmoil. Check out this achingly wonderful fic, and leave some feedback for the author.

a taste of the lovely Vecchio angst under the cut )

Okay, it must be the end of time; I am going to rec something Gen. (It really would be the end if it was Het!)

Why this must be read: Well, if I can't have slash, I'll take a good Hutch-whomper! Plus, Kate's stuff is slash without the slash, if you get what I'm saying. Kind of like the show. Anyway, this has our two heroes out in the woods with creepy things happening. I also like it because it's mainly just the two of them.

Hello! I shall be driving the Generation Kill Humvee this month. Before I get to that, I thought I'd introduce you to the world and the many, many characters therein.

Fandom: GENERATION KILL
Pairing: Brad Colbert/Nate Fick
Length: 23,800
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl
Author Website: A Multitude of Voices
Why this must be read:

This is a wonderful introduction to the world of the mini, giving us canon through the lens of Brad and Nate, and it remains one of my favorite stories. [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl writes great Brad/Nate, giving them their due as competent badasses, while also giving us spot-on moments with the other characters. Here we get Nate trying to figure Brad out and getting sucked in so much deeper than he expected. The push-pull between them is such a pleasure to read and the anticipation is scorching.

Nate gives Brad a look, smirking at him despite the flare in his chest – a mix of panic and interest. “You used to kiss my ass? Did I miss that?”

Brad smirks back, his eyes hot. “You think you could miss me doing that, sir?”
