Why you must read this: The Steppy One has admittedly used a premise from the TV show One Tree Hill and inserted it into the world of Harry Potter. I've never watched the show but that didn't mean I didn't understand and appreciate the story. Hermione makes a mistake that costs her Ron. When she comes back to discover that Ron is with another woman, her world starts to unravel.

The plot, while cliche, is given a completely new twist under her expert fingertips. Her writing is engaging and even though you (hopepraybeg) that Hermione and Ron get it together, she makes the journey utterly heartbreaking and unforgettable. This is one of those fics that has your heart twisting because of the emotion. She makes characters I normally dislike completely wonderful and relatable, especially Lavender, who normally has such a wicked place in R/Hr fanfiction. Ginny also plays the part of a wonderful best friend. A worthwhile read for all the romantics, for everyone who has made a bad decision and anyone who believes in true love.

Why this must be read:

Because, as a Star Wars fan, every time you entered a bookstore, you would be aware of the EU, if not actually capable of reading all of it. There are folks who have read all of it, and they intimidate me, but like many a fan, I pick and choose what to read. I hadn't read any of the post-ROTJ books after the New Jedi Order series concluded, so this story, set in the time of Han's grieving over Chewbacca's death, rang a familiar chime: it's Han in the story, never mind if you have not become acquainted with his EU daughter, Jaina. For that reason, I recommend this. It's got a nice humorous bent, but the grief is there, almost as a character.
