Ciao :) I'm skyearth85 and I'll be your reccer for this new fandom, let's face it, the Big Fandom of 2012: Teen Wolf! I'm finishing the fandom overview, but let's start with some fic ;) Fandom: TEEN WOLF Pairing: Derek/Stiles (slash) Length: 37 000 circa Author: thefarofixerWhy this must be read: TW is a big fandom, but one that "exploded" after some post on tumbrl, soooo, there aren't really "fandom classics" like other fandoms (not yet). But, this series is one of the few that come up in every recs I have read. It's funny, it's sexy, has a great style. ( Excerpt )The Complementary Series

Fandom: THE SENTINEL Pairing: none Length: 5000 words Author on LJ: unknown Author Website: Sis at the BiA siteFirst, some background on Sis. She’s an early TS writer; publishing in print zines and online in Guide Posts and the Cascade Library. Her work wasn’t housed at either location; it was part of Radio Free Cascade and, later, the Any Road site. But when I found Any Road five years ago, Sis wasn’t listed on the face page; you could only read her stories if you knew the links. Now, Any Road is also gone, and Sis’s stories are housed at the Brothers in Arms archive. So, although she wrote many of these stories fifteen years ago, she’ll be brand new to some people. She writes angst, humor, episode-related, minor characters and more. I had to choose one story, but you’re free to peruse. Why this must be read: It’s a Thanksgiving story with some pathos. Blair requests that they have a “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner. Jim objects, until an offhand remark reminds him that between the dissertation disaster, Blair being harassed until he’s forced to leave the academy and feeling adrift in the aftermath, that granting Blair’s wish doesn’t seem like too much to ask. Enjoy. Turkey Over Easy by Sis (G)--magician’s mantra: make an author’s day. Send feedback if you liked their story!

Greetings from the temporarily grounded Helicarrier ( don't ask...it had something to do with that troublesome God of Mischief, it's a bit of an embarrassment for the World Security Council, and honestly, the details are probably above your pay grade.). I'm bethbethbeth, and I'll be reccing The Avengers this month with a little of everything: het, slash, and gen...starting with this: Fandom: The Avengers Pairing: Mostly Gen (with background Steve/Tony and Phil/Clint) Length: @ 4,500 Author on LJ: sheafrotherdon Author Website: author's AO3 site Why this must be read:Reason 1a and 1b: Because the political shenanigans in these stories are strangely believable (note: the series is - technically - incomplete, but the two stories absolutely stand on their own), and because I'm especially fond of the long-suffering, secret ninja Phil Coulson. Reason 2: Because tonight (in the real world) the first of the 2012 U.S. Presidential Debates will be airing, and Pigeonville, USA focuses on the 2016 U.S. Presidential Race, where Steve Rogers (neither a Democrat nor a Republican in this series), is far ahead in the polls...as one might expect. What could be more timely? Pigeonville, USA (series)

Time to get this Stargate van on the road! To celebrate my absolute favorite time of the year and my fav holiday, I'll be showcasing a whole month of Stargate horror. Mostly SGA with a couple SG1, this month I want to shine a light on some of the amazing horror selections available in these fandoms. So strap in, snuggle to your nearest partner/soft thing, and pray we all live through this. 'Tis time for the scary stuff! :P Fandom: STARGATE ATLANTIS Pairing: McKay/Sheppard ; McKay/Other Length: 40,150 words Author on LJ: saffronhouseAuthor Website: AO3Warnings: violence, non-con, sorta character death Why this must be read: Author's Summary: John Sheppard's strange inheritance has drawn Dr. Rodney McKay across two galaxies and back again. Now Dr. McKay must survive the dark forces at work in the Sheppard house to save the man he loves! This fic still scares the crap out of me, even after a year from first reading. With a combination of Gothic atmosphere, small and creepy details, and a wonderful blending of Poe and SGA backstory, this fic draws you into a family with a horrific past and an estate that is haunting as any classic horror film. To dovetail with that talent with atmosphere, Martha has a way with setting a scene that breathes life into it and makes you practically live it. With the scene I've got below as the excerpt, I swear my eyes were bugging out of my head just picturing that in my head. *shiver* K, me'thinks tis time to leave the lights on tonight! Definitely enjoy this introduction into the wonderful world of Stargate horror; it'll set the stage for more horrors to come. :) ( Scary Excerpt )The Fall of the House of Sheppard

Fandom: TEEN WOLF Pairing: Sheriff POV, Derek/Stiles (slash) Length: 3 500 circa Author on LJ: suzvoyWhy this must be read: READ EVERYTHING WRITTEN BY HER!!! I love her writing, she's very good and funny, has a very fluid style, and all her characters are very IC. I choose this story of her (instead of more famous) because I have a soft spot for the relationship between Stiles and his father. Plus I love Five things fic.
