08:55 am Saw, loved, sought, by tosca1390 (PG-13)
Fandom: Sailor Moon
Pairing: Mamoru Chiba/Usagi Tsukino
Length: ~  3.800 words
Author on LJ: tosca1390
Author Website: Ao3
Why this must be read:
If I could I would rec every story by this author. She has an amazing way with words and a perfect grasp of the characters. I thought for long time about which story I would rec. Her amazing modern political AU? Her characterization of the Mamoru/Chibi-Usa/Usagi relationship? Or her Silver Millenium AU with my favorite trope? All her stories are very popular but in the end I decided to choose this story. It's short and not so well-know but I love it.

Tosca shows us a world in which Serenity and Endymion had various lives in which they met and didn't find their happy end. The story shows us moments in times in which we see that love is wonderful but sometimes everything works against it. For this the author chose various periods of time but I must admit my favorite is the Puritan Massachusetts. It simply fits to Usagis/Serenitys character and I wished I could read more about Usagis/Mamorus love during this time.

The looks into the different lives of Endymion and Serenity are short but every new part gives us a different aspect of their love. Solely for this the story deserves all my love and this rec.

Fandom: STAR WARS
Characters: Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Barriss, Anakin, Mace, the Council ... the whole
Star Wars: The Clone Wars crew
Length: 68657 words
Author on LJ: Unknown
Author Website: Profile with stories
Why this story must be read:

This is a perfect AU, tweaking one plot point of the final arc of the animated show, Star Wars: The Clone Wars: what if Anakin had not been able to find Asajj Ventress in time to prevent her knowledge from stopping Ahsoka's death sentence? GreySilhouette weaves a fine bit of craft artfully as Ahsoka's trial prompts Obi-Wan to act. The characters and relationships are spot on and the lightsaber duels memorable, with excellent action writing.

Fandom: STARSKY & HUTCH
Pairing: Starsky/Hutch
Length: 7734
Author on LJ:Ashkevran
Author Website:http://starskyhutcharchive.net/viewuser.php?uid=159
Why this must be read: I have two kinks that rarely get addressed in S&H fics: tattoos and piercings. So, it's a delight to find that Starsky is as turned on by the idea of Hutch with an earring as I would be. (Actually, I want Starsky wearing an earring, too!) It's been a long hot day, both guys are drained and sweaty. Hutch falls asleep on the couch and Starsky is transfixed by white gold threaded through your earlobe. White gold piercing you. The rest of the story is by turns erotic, arousing and sensual as Starsky makes love to Hutch over and over.

Fandom: SHERLOCK
Pairing: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes
Length: 14,064 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] augustbird
Author Website: on AO3, fic Masterpost
Why this must be read:
I tend to think that what Sherlock did in The Reichenbach Falls was pretty much unforgivable. This story explores that. It has a happier sequel, but I like this as a standalone, too. Sherlock comes back from the dead, but he and John are both too broken to make their relationship work. This is absolutely one of my favorite post-Series 2 fanfics because it is much more emotionally TRUE than most stories. In real life, it would absolutely go just like this.

BTW, trigger warnings for stalking, emotional manipulation, lack of peer notice/support to an abuse victim, controlling behavior. Oh, and depression and PTSD.

Fandom: STAR TREK: ALTERNATE ORIGINAL SERIES
Pairing: Leonard McCoy/Spock
Length: 13,773 words
Author on LJ: [livejournal.com profile] sullacat
Author Website: fic Masterlist, on AO3
Why this must be read:
I think many fans will agree with me that the episode of TNG called The Inner Light was totally one of the best of the whole series. This story takes the premise of that episode (Picard living an entire life in a few minutes) and runs with it, except this time it's Spock and McCoy that live out another life on an alien world. Gorgeous story.

Be sure to check out Sullacat's other stories, they're all very good!
